Zoom G9.2tt - comment

I just got myself Zoom G9.2tt and it is simply amazing. Previously I owned the POD XT , Zoom 707II and also BOSS ME-50, and nothing compared to the Zoom G9.2tt.

Distortion- It has BOSS Metal Zone , DS-2 and DS-1 pre-amp simulations and with some tweaking, they very much sound like the real thing. The Distortion is very natural sounding, not digitall at all. These are made possible by two 12AX7 tubes which they incorporated inside this unit. I've even compared this unit to BOSS GT-8 and I can safely say that Zoom has made multiple leaps forward when comes to natural sounding of the distortion. BOSS GT-8 has thin distortion sound and this is from a unit which my friend has. I was at first undecisive to get either the GT-8 or Zoom G9.2tt but I am glad I chose G9.2tt

Other effects sound great i.e delay, flanger, etc

Finally the two important things that made this unit really powerful on gain i.e The Accelerator button and the Energizer button.

I can say that I've never missed my BOSS analog pedals DD-6 and Metal Zone at all. This is a great unit imho...

Thanks for the comment..
How much did you got it for?

As i m considering over GNX3000 / GNX4 / G9.2tt

GNX3000 - Drum machine not able to configure- only preset sound as compare to GNX4
- G9.2tt should have a better distortion.
- Hence, GNX3000 is out

GNX4 - Have on board recording - up to 2G
- Looper / Jamman
- Drum machine

Therefore it GNX4 Vs G9.2tt !!

I got it for $536 at City Music. They dont have a case for it. I have to import the soft case from overseas.

Good luck in your search for the ultimate pedal.

KMA: GT-8 distortion sounding thin? man, i think u missed out on on many tweaking features the gt-8 has. I have a gt6, and even that i get a wide range of sounds, but none being thin sounding

Anyway thanks for the feedback..
will go and check it on on monday...

hope more people can give me more comment on this MFX

Everything's great, except the cleans on this thing.

Bought one of these, and sold it the next week, because the cleans are just too harsh. And please refrain from commenting on not enough tweaking, you have no idea. When you go try it out, try to get a good setting on the cleans with the tube/ss knobs, and at the same time, the same settings (tube/ss) for the distortion to sound great.

The other thing I don't like is the build quality, very plastic feel

Other than that, completely forget about the other functions of this pedal.

In my opinion, don't get this. Stick to PODxt LIVE or the GT-8, depending on your preference. If tube's really a must, VOX TONELAB SE.

hmm ive had one of these for quite awhile and im pretty pleased with the patches and effects on the thing.

my only gripe is that the wah pedals feel abit cheap and the interface is not exactly very well thought out. i think you have to switch patches to use the wah. meaning like you can't actually just step on the wah when you feel like using it.

im pretty interested to know how well the Pod XT Live matches up with the G9 cause im thinking of swapping.

If u are looking for an all-rounder MFX unit, the XT Live is the way to go. It is the least digital sounding of all the MFX i have tried, including all those listed here so far. In my opinion, only the Vox Tonelab SE comes close. The cleans are excellent and the distortion is quite above average i wld say. And its made of industrial grade steel so no plasticky feeling there. Great all-in-one MFX for the money. The Tonelab has the edge in having 2 pedals, thats all. I'd say get the XT Live and an extra wah pedal and u've got a gig-ready rig. I'd say ditch the G9.2tt. Of course, preferences depend on the person. But i have heard many similar stories abt the XT Live and mine is no different. So i'd seriously recommend u give it a try. Of course, i reiterate that tone preferences are subjective. Get wat sounds best 2 u.

i currently own the Zoom G7.1ut..its great sounding..i used to have the GT-6 which was also great although the tubes in the zoom does help in the tone of it..if u are really looking for a multi-fx with really great tube tones...get a Vox Tonelab SE.

im using a G7... damn good.. cant believe using a G9 man! Zoom makes pretty awesome multi efx.. always a Zoom user! previous uses GFX 4 the old series...
