Zoom G5

Hi to all.

As the title above. I'm quite new to the world
of multi-effects. But I'm quite intriqued with this
unit.

Any users here that can help me out?
How are the amp simulators and drive effects?
Does it still sound digital? And is it easy for me
to tweak a patch to my preference or is there
a very huge learning curve?

I thank you all in advance.

I have tried it, here is what I think:

amp simulators are quite close, especially when in the mix with the band. but playing alone the digital-ness is quite obvious. a good variety, plenty of controls as well

drive effects are also quite close, but sounds digital when playing alone

it is very easy to tweak patches, takes maybe just 7 minutes to chain 9 effects together in a patch

anyway, you can always drop by city music to give it a try yourself

Thanx for the info. So in a band mix, the g5 will sound
almost analog with the digital harshness almost gone?

If that is the case, i'll definitely go to CM to check it out.
This seem to be the best bang to the buck mfx which i can integrate
for live and recording purposes.

Thanx again bro. :p

Amp simulators are amazing IMO. Dialing in is a bit tough but not as difficult as the POD HD, but I really like how the amps feel!

Shameless but my bands demos in my signature were recorded using a G3 (for all guitar parts).

Hi bro Godspeed64. Couldn't agree more with you regarding the amp sim.
Really love all of it but my favourite for the moment
is the "Alien" amp sim. It does take a while to tweak
but the results are fabulous.

Currently using it as a pedal board with no amp sims used
and I'm more than satisfied. Blows my other guitar player's tone out of
the door. But from my rather short experience with this unit, it seems that
a substantial amount of patience and time must be set aside to fully tweak
the unit to bring out the best out of it. Definitely a keeper in my opinion!
No regrets with the purchase!

The next thing that I want to do is to try hook it up direct to mixer. But if
I want to do so, must I use the amp and cabinet sim? Sorry for the question,
I'm really new to this.
