I am in a dilema whether to get which one of the above. Anyone tried both of these multi-EFXes before? Care to share your experiences?

i am currently using the Zoom B2.1u on my pedalboard so far i am very very please with it. it works well in the board and i can use it for practice via headphones or even plug it in via the USB to my laptop to record tunes, basslines, guitar, bass and i even add some basic drum tempo in to get the timing right and i send them to other band members or keep it in archive, cos i always forgot riffs and basslines when writing new material ;p
as for the POD not sure. i owned a POD 2.0 bass version, its in the closet drawer somewhere. did not touch it for like 4yrs? its the kidney ones. i like the amp modeller. air modeller, etc..etc..i mean thats all i ever use it for ;p

How about the sound and usability? I heard people saying that the Zoom sounds nooby and difficult to switch around preset customised sounds. Can share more?
I own the Zoom B2.1u as well.
People slam it n00b because of the low price point they think it's beginner - I think they are just trying to justify how they paid extra $500 for a similiar product of another brand so they think they are superior. heheheh...
But no, I think the Zoom sounds excellent in it's own right. Good quality sounds and low price - bang for buck!
The tuner is excellent, damn fast, you play fast notes it can tell you every single note you play.
I love it most for the amp modelling and drive... excellent tones!!
The auto-wah and auro-resonance is extremely good as well. The chorus, phaser and flangers are ok.
The octave, pitch shift and harmoies are surprisingly good. Octave and harmoniser tracks well.
The built-in simple rhythm machine is useful.
People complain that it's hard to turn on-off effect, i don't think that's the case. Although it's build more for patch changing - means you program several different sets of effects you want then switch patch up or down.
you can still switch on / off individual effect the normal way - just turn the knob to the effect you want, then step on the left switch to toggle it on/off.
BTW for those with the Zoom, which part of the chain is it in your board?
I used to put it like this
bass->zoom->comp->tuner->amp
But now I changed the order like this
bass->Digitech Bass Synth Wah -> Bassballs -> Zoom -> Korg Tuner -> EBS multi-comp
I changed it coz I can tap on the Korg tuner to mute everything. Also The expression pedal on the zoom can be used as volume pedal at the same time this will not affect the triggering of the wahs before the zoom.
If I put the zoom before the wahs, when I use the espression pedal to turn the volume down, it also affected the wah triggerings.
I want tp try a line 6 pod.... anyone owns it and can share experience with it?

i dun haf a bass pod x3 live, but i do haf a line 6 x3 live
mainly i use it for guitar, but once in a while (more like the whole of the past week) i've been using it for bass
the amp modelling is ok i suppose, the synths don't track veri well....ok, they track veri badly, or it could be my crappy bass playing
i could get a decent sound out of it, but i think it juz sounds so much better as a guitar effects imo
as for the zoom, i'm considering getting it, coz as a bassist i'm not that anal about my tone, and i want something easier to carry around

check out the site here where people post their zoom settings. really good stuff there.
some of the settings you'll never thought was possible on a pedal.. (for me at least) especially the SciFi preset listed on the site.

I own a Zoom B2.1u myself.. I also used to hear that Zoom was a noob pedal.. but that was history when the Zoom B2.1 pedals range came up.. totally different from what I've heard on old Zoom pedals. It has so many sounds that I was shocked to achieve... such as Marcus Miller tone, Stingray... and the cabinet range is indeed useful.. but my favourite is the tube sound it can produce...
One thing they lack is the drum loops... they lack the standard jazz and swing loops... which is quite a pity.. it could have been perfect.
