hi. i was wondering is it worth it to buy zildian packed sets? i'm looking at the zxt and zht. is it worth it? or is it better to buy loose. i'm not sure. still a rookie drummer. thanks

imo zildjian have the best cymbals. but they're quite expensive, really. try sabian or paiste. the quality is good too, and it's fairly cheap. i really like the sabian rock hats + rock ride + rock crash pack. can't remember what it's called. but if you have the money then go for zildjian. the quality's really good.

depends on how long u intend for them to last you, if you think you r gonna b serious bout drumming then save up for btr stuff. but if ur budget is too tight, go for ZBTs, they are btr than ZXTs though cheaper, in my opinion. i really like the ZBT ride cuz it has very good stick definition and nice ping sound but ppl tell me it sux for recording haha...the ZBT crash has short sutain if you dont mind and the hats sound quite ok to me, but if u want warmer sounds go for cast bronze cymbals... other quality cymbals go for sabian or instanbul cuz they r cheaper and good quality... if u wanna go paiste u mus get the high ends cuz the lower ends of paiste sound really bad to me... 101,201 all those :(... at least pst5 onwards for starters quality... sabian is more consitent, cuz besides b8, solar, and pro the rest are cast bronze which have big ranges in price, and their b8's are not much cheapr than he normal aa's or aax's

if u really like the darker sounds of zildjian and got no $ get bosphorus... i can roughly advice u btr if i noe wat genre u mainly play

heh. i'm confused

erm i saw some reviews of your guys. i'm deciding aax or istanbul. which is better? which is cheaper? and ya can this be bought in usa? i mean the istanbul sorry, my dad is going over ya. yup. me i play rock. not hardcore. the coldplay, puddle of mudd, goo goo dolls that kinda. what genre is tt anyway? thanks guys. help greatly appreciated. :D

wait

wait wait. aax is kinda expensive!, how is the aa its cheaper right? man i'm serious confused. i need advice

yes aax is more expensive but definitely btr than zxts as it made of an alloy that are make most good qaulity cymbals while zxts are made of the b8 alloy only. istandbul should be cheaper than the higher end sabians... sorry 4 de confusion, but aax's are quite cheap among other sabian casts like hhx or hand hammered, hey but coldplay, softer music, maybe a good idea to get warmer cymbals like zildjian or bosphorus or paiste traditionals... axx is cutting, to match with heavy power chords or cool licks

erm how are the istanbuls?

are the istanbuls good? i thinkeing of getting them.. you know if can get them in usa? houston?

Go for the sound you want, not the price. Or you'll regret spending the money on something that doesn't sound sweet to you for a long time.

For Sabian AA or AAX, you should go to http://www.sabian.com/
Check out the sound samples. See which is the one you like. Personally, I like the AAX range most.

As for Istanbuls, you can head down to Drum Resources at Excelsior. Nigel has a range of Istanbuls on display. Ask him nicely to let you try on them. Do some research.

Lastly, always buy cymbals with your ears, not your eyes :)

money problem

eh ok. but i have a tight budget. i do not know how much my dad is willing to pay for me. cash flow problems. i hear from you guys that the istanbul is good. ya. i dunno what to choose. yup. heh can help em find out whether usa have istanbuls? thanks!

Zildjians are WAY overpriced and most of their newer, mass-produced cymbals are complete trash compared to the old ones, IMO. Hear a slightly old (circa 1995?) K dark crash and one that is produced in 2004. the newer one will sound like ass, comparatively.

Hey Kanzer...

Buying cymbals in US is expensive... give you the price list which I bought the Bosphorus in Singapore and compare with the price in US. My suggestion is that you get Bosphorus... you get more for less... 8)

BOSPHORUS

Traditional Series

7" Splash $70
8" Splash $80
9" Splash $90
10" Splash $100
12" Splash $120
13" Hi-Hats $250
16" Crash $165
17" Crash $180
19" Ride $220
20" Ride $250

istanbuls here on ezi music cost 600+ for hats, crash and ride... i dont think it be cheaper in us cuz they are made in turkey i think... yes bospho's are very good replacements for zildjians, but i dont think they sound completely the same tonally as some ppl hav told me... it really depends on u, both zildjian AND bosphorus allow u to test out their cymbals on the respective websites so its really up 2 u on which one you like... if you playing soft rock i recommend maybe darker and warmer cymbals from sabian handhammered, zildjian k customs or paiste trads, but cash flow problems i dont think u can afford em.... and US depends on where u buy, if u strike a sale gd fer u, even better if u go to the zildjian warehouse :P but doubt ur dad will make the trip there... i check de prices there, in some shops they rip u off like krazi... and besides, cymbals r heavy, u probably might have to ship em over n that will cost u evn more cash

funkifized, serious? i thought the k dark crashes sound pretty good, if their ass compared to last time then those ol' cymbals mus sound godly haha

I just went to Oklahoma's guitar center and got myself a ride and a few pairs of shure inears!!!! killer man... And They're not expensive.... but yea... Bosphorous is paying so much less for more. They're cheap in SG but they cost alot over here.
