Your Favourite Strings

yeah i hate those curt mangans. just feel like crap and they're so inconsistent. some packs feel different from others, though not as good as other brands.

Curt Mangan 9.5s

They feel fine to me, no stickyness and they last long with Dr.Stringfellow. Can go a month with good care even with guitar out of case in a airy room, and I have radioactive sweat. Been using Mangans for maybe half a year

I use 9.5s as my VA on 10s are really stiff for me, even though I was a 11-58 in the past with other guitars. Blues and metal lah. But now no more metal, and have gotten use to the lighter gauge. Yes have sacrificed that heavy strings tonal clang.

Can't stand D'addario electric guitar strings, lose their brightness pronto and just no mojo. Their $15-$20 acoustics are cool though.

Would buy Ernie Balls if they lasted a month.

Heh. G string brings back memories. Had guitar with a g string which kept pinging in the nut. Brought back to Davis under warranty to have it worked on. Convo went like something like this

Me: "Help help!! My g string keeps getting stuck in my nut!!"
Sales assistant: "Your WHAT keeps getting stuck in your WHAT??!! 8O"

Anyway off topic! Favourite strings are CM nickel wound 10s. Since when are they sticky? Been through so many packs. Maybe its the softer texture which makes it seem that way.

omg. anyone know whats the problem with my strat. im down to my FOURTH high E string in TWO weeks, and they're all breaking at before the saddle, at the part where the string bends upwards.

and i'm using 11s so dont tell me that my strings are 'thin'..

Very high probability that there are some sharp edges/grooves in the notch of the saddle where the string lies in. To confirm this remove the string and run a cotton bud through the notch. If the cotton catches then you'll have to smoothen the edges sparingly with fine sandpaper.

^ err.. before the string touches the saddle.. anyway i already checked the saddle, not sharp. and i ran some sandpaper and steel wool through the hole (or ferrule or whatever its called) and strung it. hopefully it'll last...

btw anyone know any place which sells single electric guitar strings? .11 of course since i'm kinda short on them..

GHS sig Dave Must.

for $8.50 i get to sound like him...and you can too.

Really really great for rhythm work. sadly my high e string snapped the moment i tugged it. But i love the strings.

I play around with gauges .010s and .0095s
usually use D'addario strings..stainless steel ones are really cool..
now I've just started trying Curt Mangans...will restring the guitar soon..

electric: ernie ball super slinkies 9-42

Accoustic: Yamaha Silver Strings 13s

Classical: Labella high tension black nylons

^ i get them from PS yamaha.

anyone knows which shop sells SINGLE high E strings? im very short of them thanks to the 4 i've broken in 2 weeks...

The PRS 9.5s from Davis are pretty good too. Made by D'Addario but quality and feel up one notch imo. $6+ if I rmb correctly. May even replace my CM 10s to be my new favourites. Jury still out though.

tried the PRS too, mainly cause CMs were sold out that day for 9.5s.

Their ok, rusted easier though then CMs I thought and lost their tone faster. the PRS strings would just be a back up ahead of Curt Mangans.

Maybe I should go back and try DRs and GHS again and compare them to Curt Mangans.
