i use anything that sounds the best. Whether it is hardware or software, i dun tink they matter at all. If i have a good pianist, i would wan to record a real grand piano instead.

When ambience is important in a band recording, then a real piano sitting together with a band may help. But most of the time, it's definitely going to be a softsampler. That's because the softsampler is already "recorded" the using great mics. It is already the best sound possible attainable.
