anyone had any experince with this school? (In nus anyway)

Heres the website

Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music

Is it hard to enter? Lets say you perform pretty well during the audition but maybe your a level or poly results are bad (in a state where you cant enter any of the nus/ntu/smu course), are the chances of getting in high?

Any recommendation for good music university towards classical side?

I think it just functions like NUS. In a sense that they still look at your A level or polytechnic results on top of your audition results. Considering the fact that the school in under NUS, I guess the admission criteria for the school is the same as NUS.

Well is it hard to enter? Yes even though I'm not in it, I can see that its pretty hard to enter because not only are you competeing with locals on vacacies but you're also competeing with foreigners for vacancies. Vacancies are expectionally limited due furious competition.

If all else fails you can try NAFA or La Salle.

I have quite a few friends who went in without taking A Levels at all. Instead the Conservatory just offered them a place.

Most importantly, like any other Conservatory the professors/teachers there must be interested to take you in. From there many things can be done.

Most important thing to get in is your musical abilities, the rest are almost purely secondary.

If not many of the young people in there (entered when they were 15) wouldn't be able to enter at all.

Anyway what are you planning to study there? Their strongest area is basically only classical music. Other than that there's not much really taught there. And if you're talking about technique wise, the professors there are Chinese nationals and thus much of the technique is more towards Chinese playing style. Plus Chinese put a higher emphasis on technique, so it might do you good to enter as well. But it's a matter of choice.

If you're not planning to do classical music, you're better off with NAFA and LaSalle.

Applicants must meet the academic requirements of the National University of Singapore. Thus, in addition to a high level of musical development, a measure of academic ability is also required for admission to the programme.
Admission to the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory will be determined by a combination of the following:
1. Audition results
2. High school / University Transcript (where applicable)
3. English Placement Test
4. Recommendations
Preparing for a successful audition (or composition portfolio) is a key requirement for admission to the Conservatory. Successful candidates must be comfortable performing the audition repertoire to a high technical and expressive standard.

gone case? haha i guess i will just skip this and just go for the overseas audition on dec
