I've got a funny feeling they are trying to make it sound something like the Tyros 2 which has pretty cool articulations. Again, trying to play catch up with the softsamplers. Not a bad move. That's the only way to go for keyboards anyway. Will be good to listen to some demos.

Hey, I can't seem to find any other sources of info re: the Motif XS. How did this site get the info? It doesn't look like a hoax. Anyone can get more info on it?

it is the only source from andysmusiconline,
as mentioned only available April 2007.

Probably Yamaha will show cast them during this coming Jan '07
NAMM show. is there one coming?

looks like our Phd friend did try ordering from USA Andymusic Online:

The Yamaha MM6 Mini Mo synthesizer not only features sounds from the Motif, but it also has the quick edit knobs and arpeggios to control them. The MM6 lets you jam over the top of the street-smart grooves with layered or split sounds in Performance mode.

When you’re ready to record your music, you can record the grooves and keyboard parts directly to the onboard song sequencer. For even greater flexibility, connect the MM6 to your computer via USB and use the bundled Cubase software.

Whether you’re just jamming with friends or working on complete music productions, the Yamaha MM6 Mini Mo synthesizer lets you hit the streets in style.

Bong,

I didnt try...I have my cousin & my office there in California, if I need anything...to buy from there..or can always ask Peter Bane of JRR Shop...(www.jrrshop.com) very friendly and reasonable pricing....Who wants to buy from andysmusic or some :?: .............

This topic is running in Roland Forum as they keep digging out what's gonna come out for the NAMM 07....from Jan,16th to ...(a week ??)

Wait & see...

By the talks..it looks like there may be a new SRX ???

Korg launching for a OASYS LE...may be....so that they want to scrap off Triton Series... :D

Kurzweil may come with a new synth than K2600....

Forget Alesis..what ever they launch, it's a shit....

Bong,

Alesis was good once...Now it's run by the DJ stuff group Numark...even the Fusion HD was sold at rock bottom price of 450 USD at Guitar Center and Sam Ash... 8O

So think of the standard they are in to keep them in the market....So the company went bankrupt and sold to Numark...may be we expect more DJ stuff from Alesis in future....mixers...CD players....HiFi stuff....

i seems an article on the making of alesis fusion HD once. i find that they take pretty much an effort doing the design and concept , and the alesis ion is quite good for any new comer on analogue modelling. but yea i do hate their pass products before this. lets see if they are improving during the NAMM :)

wow! is that so?
I thought a lot of effort was put into the making of Fusion HD?
but after I try it at Sinamex, looks like an average workstation.
anyway it's a leap from the Quadra synth.

The Fusion is far from your average workstation. I've tried it quite extensively in New Jersey. The real time control of different parameters gives you really out-of-the-world effects and sounds. It gives quite a bit of control and manipulation of the sounds. I could create some really unusual soundscapes on the fly - really enjoyed playing with it. They dumped everything into one - FM, physcial modelling, virtual analog and sample playback. May not give the best of all, but it does give an all rounded feel. But in the end, it's the really wierd soundscapes that could be played live that attracted my attention - something I couldn't do easily on any other synths.

Cheez...I have a friend working for IK multimedia as Sound Designer...He has atleast 5 synths..mostly analog..He has fusion 6 HD also..He rates it as the lowermost compared to others he has..(Fantom X topping the list, Korg Triton Extreme, Motif ES, Nord, Novation stuff and many in his studio)

He says Fusion processing speed is comparitively low and when in patch mode it is good...not for sequencing or to use 16 part... 8O

Joel, I gave a short review of the Fusion sometime in the past. The slower processing speed is one of the problems I noted as well - and agree with your friend in that respect. There are also a number of problems with it...

But all that aside, as I said, the strength is in the real-time parameters control (ie the knobs on the left side) which give really surreal soundscapes that's hard to get on most synths. It's hard to describe how you can manipulate it. My description does not do it credit. You really need to play around with it for a while and listen for yourself.

For sequencing, I've given up on hardware years ago. I wouldn't for a moment use Fusion in multi-timbral mode - one reason being the relatively slower processor, and the other being the poor switching between different synthesis modes. The stength is the real-time control of different paramters - which by definition means that it is meant to be played live in patch mode.

Too bad Alesis is trying to "fuse" everything together into one keyboard. It would serve better if it were to remain purely a synth and not a workstation. But even as a synth, the slight delay in switching between different synthesis modes can be annoying, although there are workarounds which require setting of programs. But I stand by my view - the sounds manipulation is simply incredible!

its like oasys wanna be den.

joel you says fantom X top ur friend list , any reasons why? i am just curious cause i always feel the fantom is not make for analogue stuff,. i would had prefer NORD anytime though.

just curious thats all
