yo!!!
Anyone using Yamaha mm6 or mm8 with sustain pedal??
anyone ever ran out of notes when using the sustain pedal with it?
cause it only has 32 polyphony....
thx for ur help !!
cheers!!!:)

There's nothing you can do about the polyphony of the MM8. But you can get around the problem by:

1. Using sound modules via midi, esp when you are layering. This would greatly increase your overall polyphony.

2. Changing the way you play. Be conscious of the limited polyphony, use less sustain (and pedal up frequently), and choose your patches carefully. Note that some patches may have 2 sound elements in them (ie playing one key = 2 notes). That means you polyphony effectively decreases to 16 with some patches.

3. Decreasing the release time of the patches with some programming.

It's not impossible. Just need some conscious effort to change your playing style.

wow.....like quite ma fan hahhaa.......
btw any other suggestions for synths around that price range??with at least 64 poly hehe
im staying in KL..... i heard that Singapore's instruments are much cheaper than in Malaysia.....

ooo but how much isit? i think its over my budget...
if i get a motif xs rack and i'll need a midi controller too right?

Your MM6 or MM8 acts as a controller. Depending on the genre you are playing, you may want to try something like Roland's JV1010 (if you can get your hand on one) - relatively cheap and good template of bread-and-butter sounds.
