yamaha ERB300 II ?

wazzup bassists, I'm actualy helping a friend to check out for a reasonable bass. he is a startout beginner, goin to have bass lesson soon.. Is ERB300 a good one?i'l be grateful if anyone can give recommendation on a bass for beginner w/ budget $200-$300. any help is greatly appreciated
