Yamaha buys Bösendorf

Bosendorfer has not been doing well at all for a number of years. As for Bosendorfer sounds in Yamaha synths, that will never happen. Yamaha's sampling technology is years behind others. They can't even provide their C3 in their synths. As it is, their digital piano sounds remains thin and a far cry compared to the the real deal.

I thought Yamaha did include their award wining C3 in the PLG150-AP card ?

But the their hardware plug-in boards are crap, I bought a AP card and now it's not
working ? *sigh*

good news for yamaha piano aficionados, bad news for Bosenforfer pianists/purists...

The way it has been, Yamaha since the dawn of time has been trying to decipher how the Germans, and especially Steinway Hamburg, make their pianos, and as good as their CFIIIS concert grand is, they're never going to come close to what a Steinway, Bosendorfer or even a Fazioli is...

The aquisition of Bosendorfer is one such advance towards this domination by Yamaha...and lets just hope that they don't tamper with the traditional way Bosendorfers are made and sound, because there really isn't anything like it on this world...

Oh....looks like Yamaha did have C3 on their PLG boards. Are they still supporting PLG in their later keyboards?

As for Bosendorfer, the problem is not their pianos. I believe the problem is their marketing.

PLG cards not supported in the new line of Motif XS.
If anyone has tested the Motif XS,
the screen display is totally changed from previous
Motif ES and the classic, this may be the main reason
why it is not supported.
However, the Motif XS supports 1GB of sampling
capacity. You can load any piano samples size up to 1GB.

oh yes, this is true. Japs are better at marketing and sales.
