Turkish Cymbals do sound great as well! Now I will have more options rather than just stick with Zildjian.

Good Work Bruce!

It is True - that at " cymbalonly.com "- you can test out a lot of sound file of cymbals through the net at this site and they have large numbers of cymbals for you to test.

Alot of us - go into this site - - just to test the Sound as I have did mine on Bosphorus Cymbals - before I go to Accent Music (The Distributor of Bosphorus Cymbals here in Singapore) to make a Purchase or Made An-Indent-Order (if they do not have it on hand)....

I Order a Custom Made (17" Bosphorus Master Crash) at Accent and it's cheap....the only thing is - Waiting time, as it depends on their Shipment date of their next order...so no extra charges on Freight at all.

If I am correct - ACCENT MUSIC here in Singapore - sells - The Lowest Price for Bosphorous in the World ....

Don't believe me - check it out - I've did my homework a long time ago on this already.

NOTE:- And - Do Pay a Visit to Cymbalonly.com - to test the sound of Cymbals there- the sound file are super- very close to the real thing ....They are Reknown.

I don't know about you guys, I only use such recordings of cymbals as a very general guide. How the cymbals sound in the recordings are largely dependent on what mic and sticks were used, how the recording was mixed/processed and even where it was recorded (enclosed or open environment?).

As much as possible, I try to test it out personally before making a purchase. Best if I can even play it with a drumset to hear how the cymbal sounds like as a whole when played with a drumset. It could make quite a difference, like if the snare drowns out the cymbal etc. But of course, that is just the most ideal situation. It is not very often that we can get to test out cymbals extensively in person.

Ahh - Not anymore :( Accent marked up their cymbals after their last shipment back in August in line with what the US is selling.

I did a check and for some of the higher-end cymbals (Master and certain Signature series), cymbalsonly.com sells is slightly cheaper than Accent (sans shipping and freight rate, of course) This is, of course, made even more advantageous by the recent USD slide.

I will buy it there and have it shipped to a US address, which I will pick up when I visit the states.

They also have certain different weights, sizes that Accent doesnt bring in. For example, Accent has never brought in the Jazz crashes ...

Accent did not mark up it prices to – US Price List from what I know…but yes it could be the Exchange that is now – in favour of USD.

But - - - yes when it comes to varieties …yes yes - definitely cymbalsonly.com – where I can click and listen to all the sound file (that’s what I do) – as they not only have eg Crash Cymbals in a particular size eg 16 inch but various kind of Weight in gm - - so I click them…listen – then I call Accent and tell them – I want this… ? Inch Crash or Ride and xxxx gm etc…and they will quote me (from just a call) and once prices agree – I will order and they will get it in for me…simple.

Eg..now prices.

Price at cymbalsonly.com – The Antique Crash is USD234 x 1.413 = S$330.65
See link
http://cymbalsonly.com/

The Price now at Accent is - - S$195.00 (inclusive of GST)…

Whats the variance ? - - - take S$195 / 1.413 = USD = USD138 and against USD234 (nett prices from cymbalsonly.com) = = Cheaper by 41% here directly (Taking cymbalsonly.com price as base)

And – this does not include – Freight and Handling Charges – if one were to bring it in to Singapore…..and not forgetting – it is at USD low exchange rate now.

You tell me ?

Dear RudimentalDrummer,

I know what you mean. For the usual stock series - yes Accent still has it cheaper. Like my post above, if you take the newer Master or higher-end Signature series. The variance is very low and sometime tilts in favour of CymbalsOnly.

Take the Masters Vintage series 22" Ride - CymbalsOnly retails at USD417 which converts to about SGD570+. Accent sells it for about SGD590+ I think.

I know Accent very well and I know how they do their business with Bosphorus Turkey. Bosphorus Turkey ships it out in EURO and with the recent fluctuations of the USD against the EURO, you will find that certain higher end cymbals prices in cymbalsonly are slightly cheaper.

As stated in my earlier post, I am referring to sans shipping. Again, I am talking apples vs apples so I am just comparing the cymbals alone with no shipping.

Which is why it works for me, if I can get odd sizes, higher end cymbals from cymbalsonly and I will collect it when I visit the US often.

I also buy a lot from Accent and just recently ordered a couple of Antique crashes that came in with their August shipment. Since there is no freight charges, it can work as well as long as you are in tune with Accent's ordering and shipping cycles.

.

I see…I have quite a many Master Series which I use it for my Jazz and I like them…. I think I bought my 22” Bosphorus Master Ride for S$380 (cant remember) unless I check it back home…but I don’t think I have ever pay anything more than S$400 – for Bosphorus Master Series at Accent.

Except that Large 22" Signature China (of Jeff Hamilton I think) they have ex-stock there - -- wow.wwwwww but it cost S$630…I do love it – but I did not buy it…expensive I think.

Yes - the older stock is cheap. Accent keeps it honest and that's why I like doing business with them.

But the new ones are marked-up. They are. I know Mr Teow well and he is just trying to run a business.

That explains why the Masters Vintage (new) ones are slightly cheaper at cymbalsonly bases on the bigger market they have.

And that Hammer China - yes, it has been there for some time. Expensive but somehow I dont really dig the sound...
