Dear all
Apologies, but this guitar is no longer for sale - and there seems to be no tools to edit or close this thread (other than say 'SOLD' - but it's not sold).
I was advised not to sell this instrument - especially not at $3000. If however, you come across a new one in the region of S$4000-$4500, with a nicely flamed and figured top (the A-ratings are subjective and not included in the guitar's particulars - apparently Gibson is inconsistent about how many As a piece of wood gets), do consider buying it especially if you are building a Gibson collection and appreciate a very fine playing and sounding guitar. It's on the heavy side, but sounds and handles great.
The 2013s are the same guitar, but with options for the top that can make each less costly. The 2012 tops are standardized 'premium'. To identify a 2012, look for the serial number - the first digit should be '1' and the fifth '2'. There is also '2012' stamped under that - all of the numbers are on the back of the headstock. The 2012 Standard is the first of the Les Pauls to come with the volume/single coil (x2) and tone/phase reverse, tone/pure bypass settings.
The Standard does not come with a certificate - only a QC check list - warranty is provided by Swee Lee. And since it is already late 2013, hardly any 2012s will still be under warranty. The Gibson Custom Shop guitars are the ones with the certificates. The Gibson Custom Shop models also have silk-screened serial numbers, not stamped ones like the Gibson USA Les Paul Standard 2012.
The Standard comes with the pick guard and an allen key too. If you are a serious collector and insist on everything that came with the guitar (e.g. the hang tags), be aware that each of the control knobs had a special tag to highlight the new functions of the electronics.
I hope this helps in your search for a Gibson Les Paul Standard 2012.
