yeah, it might be just your EQ settings.
I had a Zoom G21.u before but I had to sell it due to not good distortion sound I' was getting that time. Modulation is pretty okay.... I guess that's the best effect on this unit the delays. Overdrives just sounds so fake...
You might want to turn off the Comp (Compressor) and the Cabinet Emulation and see if that helps. Also make sure that your Amplifier is also set properly... set it clean for start.
