Hi everyone, as the Topic suggests, would you pay $200 for a soft case or gig bag to carry your guitar or bass?

maybe the benefits of the item can be elaborated in more detail?

If i have an expensive guitar and the gig bag provides enough incentives for me i will get it!

Hi MaCca and tubescreamer,

Hmm, the specifications of the gig bag is... undefined as of now. How about some suggestions of an ideal gig bag from you guys? How much would you pay for your "perfect" ideal gig bag?

Light, well padded, and the straps must be strong! Especially the connection at the bottom of the backpack straps where it attaches to the case.

Also, the straps should be postioned such that the top of the case does not stick out too much over the head when strapped on. (referring to bass gig bags, which are much longer) =)

Yes I will pay $200 for a gig bag provided it's durable, nice looking and value for money. It has to more practical than a hard case.

Cherns from RDMGear used to stock this semi-hard gigcase called the Spork, you can see photos of it here: http://picasaweb.google.com/chernwei/RDMGigbags#

Sadly, he has stopped production due to some supplier side issues. To me, the benefits of his design were:

1) Neck support, which is especially important for angled headstock guitars (e.g. Les Pauls)
2) Thick padding all over
3) Semi-hard design
4) Thick padded straps
5) Large pockets for storage

He used to charge $200 for the guitar versions, and $220 for the bass version. I would gladly pay that amount, considering that shipping an actual INCASE would cost about $3-400?

my gig bag

Fits my instrument like a glove
Has soft~very soft padding on the inside
Has hard waterproofing on the outside
Zips dont leak
Has pouch for adapter pedal and cables
has a metal braced carriage straps with leather handles.( dont hurt my fingers)

looks Jazzy

Weighs light enough

would be great if there's some allowance for customization whether it is specs or aesthetics!

agree, 200 is not too much for a good one, looks cool and works cool.
lol, have a compartment with the guitar where u can place those dessicants (dunno how to spell). joking.

Must have good straps and handle.

Hi EnEn

Leather is fine, but how about other materials? What makes the ideal gig bag that is worth $200 to you? Does the number of compartments matter? Or is it just mainly the amount of protection that a gig bag can offer?

i would personally pay top dollar for ultimate protection for my guitar.

should pay special attention to cases for les pauls, since they have an angled headstock and impacts to that area can be an issue.

and yes, making the case look sweet and posh may attract buyers.

No leather please, it attracts mold. I think protection is still the most important.

Number of compartments doesn't really matter, but a number of high end gig bags have a laptop sleeve built in. =)

weight does too, don't want to kill my shoulder on a 3kg gig bag.

and oh yes.. ruggedness. used a ritter bag last time, that last for 8 years! (they don't make them the way they do anymore.)

this bag above has got very nice features and protection. Only thing is the weight is just below 3kg. (way too much) Wish it was sold in singapore. costs only S$100 in korea!
