hey guys out there.

i have seen some bands concerts, not locally, the guitarist plays guitar but
there are no cables! i hear about wireless playing that send err..bluetooth
signals to the amps. am i right?

i hear that vox has that thing where u plug into the guitar.
the model is ae30. am i correct to refer that vox ae30 to be that thing that
sends wireless signals to the amps?

locally..i know the user nomis here has ever used a wireless cable adaptor..claimed he bought it at $500 or $700 but i forgot that was some 2 or 3 years ago.

yes, they do exist, and they were expensive, they may not be expensive now. don't know abt the bluetooth though, maybe that's why they may cost less now.

Lol. I haven't heard of any wireless instrument system using bluetooth technology.... The signals usually are UHF (Ultra High Frequency) or VHF (Very High Frequency).

I don't own one myself but I've read up abit on the systems and it seems if you want to go wireless, its best that you save up and get a decent system cause the lower end systems might lead to toneloss or even worst, you don't want to be your signals to be interfered while playing just because someone's mobile rang or something :|.

i use a wireless set but it's not bluetooth lol :) i don't know of any bluetooth wireless sets, and i don't think i'd want to use one. what if someone tries to send an mp3 to my guitar amp? :o

ok maybe i wass soooo wrong about the bluetooth. maybe coz thats the only wireless signal i tot of, except infra red. haha. wow.so it cause alot huh? any examples?
i guess it would be damn convenient w/o wires. hahaha

haha lipsync ah?
people send song to u, u no need play.

yeah, until they send the wrong song.

imagine playing a hardcore metal gig and someone sends some emo song or some wimpy chinese song. but it'll be quite cool la, like got backing track.

no need chinese opera. Just send umbrella eh eh eh~
Wireless would be good if you're planning to go guitar swings. Unless it flies off your strap. And if you wanna run around the stage (if it's big enough) But heard it can cause interference with similar frequencies...

I play almost every gig with a wireless system (in different locations from indoors to outdoors, town area, ulu areas, sentosa, etc) and so far, not once did I have any problem with it. As long as you set the right channel/freq that no one's using, it should be fine (and for that matter, I never had to change any channel for any of the gigs).

My advise is to get a UHF (ultra high frequency) unit instead of VHF. Do some research online on the wireless systems and you'll know which are the more reliable ones. Personally, I've had my Sennheiser EW100 system for around 5 years of gigging and it's still serving me really well :) There's a newer version too (can't remember the model number tho).

Well, it's not just for showmanship or guitar flips (I don't do the flip thingy tho), but for peace of mine as well...cos many a times, I fear I'd trip on my own cable or fear that it'd tangle something or be yanked out when I walk off too far, etc...so with a wireless, it's really a kind of new-found freedom. Oh, and it's quite useful during soundchecks too...as you can walk to audience area to listen to how everything sounds from their point of view.

+1 to the X2 Digital Wireless.

I too use one and there is a slight loss in tone but it is sooooooo slight that it doesn't matter at all and you can only tell the diff between cables if you listen really really hard.

I've done guitar swings with it and it's really no problem if you got a secure pack to hold the transmitter onto your strap.Using a wireless system live is really liberating.

P.s. the X2 digital wireless system cost USD 300 with both transmitter and Reciever.highly recommended.

used to use before...great for running around the stage and off the stage....

sold mine but wouldnt mind getting another next year..
