Thought its been always a trade show for merchants instead. Its not open to public aint it, unless being part of the merchants/businesses team etc.

in local context, only city music did have some publicity on their facebook last year when they were there. The rest, dont think they went for it, or at least no publicity on their visit there over the last 7 to 8 years in local music forum.

Well the last day of Summer NAMM this year was open to public, so I'm guessing Winter NAMM would be as well!

2011 is the correct year cited; Namm doesn'thappen until January.
