if i put the splash cymbal upside down over my crash/ride cymbal. will i damage it when i play it?

i thought it should be ok as long as there is sufficient felt in between both cymbals and the steel holder itself.

but i suffered from a cracked splash recently though! it has a small cracked at the edge... and its the 7inch portnoy sabian max splash somemore *heart pain*

i'm still thinking how it could have happened... maybe the cymbal was already aging (have had it for 6 years) and historically all the sabians i've had are not very durable. i'm not exactly a soft hitter but neither am I a basher. Utilisation is average too.... hmmm

i'm doing that too. for my 8" k splash. though i don't use it very much.
and sometimes i accidentally hit it when i wanna hit my crash instead. hmm...

probably need a new stand or splash extension...

I dont think there would be much of a problem if you place a splash there just to fatten the cymbal sound. and not hitting the splash it self.

I used to put a splash on my main cymbal to make it have more projection and it really makes the cymbal sound fuller.
