Will Kennedy drum clinic (DrumFest)

Just got back from the clinic, and boy was it a blast!!! plenty of yeah??? all around all night long

to share with softies who missed it, Will shared something really useful in terms of a toolbox for drummers when they walk into a studio for recording or for session work.

He spoke of 3 things in the toolbox:

- playing the beat (which is communicated to you by the producer or songwriter)
- playing less than the beat, and
- playing contrary to the beat

the picture is far clearer demonstrated (by the legend himself, no less) but the above is the gist of it.

You could feel he was possessed by the Spirit, letting it power him and drive him as he played, spoke, joked, sang and generally getting crowd grooving along with him.

It was a great time, and a great experience, especially the last part where he playfully ribbed, encouraged the rest of the musicians into taking solos and get themselves 'kicking', while he provided some of the most intense solo highlights of the night, all within the flo' no less.

incredible *salute*

a warm thank you to everyone who made it possible (it gets said all the time, but it must be said still), tan boon, who despite everything still makes it happen, and even tries no matter how to make sure there are some freebies and lucky draw at every clinic *salute*

cheers and see you all tomorow for part deuX!!!!!

Ya man! He say must feel the music from within. This is something people always talk about, but most of the time, I don't apply. Now must really learn to apply more!

And for some luckee news. This time, one of the luckee draw winners is none other than...snowflier!!!

So awesome!!!

PS: I need to up my luck a little next time! ;)

Man... wish I was there too! Sounds like an awesome clinic man.

Sooo what did snowflier win?

Ok lah killerbee. Next time I rub on some good luck for you too ok? lol :p

I'll let the winner reveal. But it is something she wanted to get when we met up on Monday night.

Ok. Now I see the trend The winning item must be something the person actually wanted at the point in time. Next time, I must think more of what I want. HAHA!

Let me keep thinking about see Stanton Moore in clinic. Maybe it will come true soon!

Yessss!

The secret to it is to concentrate your brain energies on that one thing you want to win. Send the powerful signals through the air. Then BAM! You'll hit jackpot! lol.

shucks...i gotta think BIG then..."drum set, drum set, drum set"....."trip to US/OZ/NZ, trip, trip, trip"

i got a drum key and a dampener (Min-Emad), both from Evans. think it was nice of Boon (and possibly Nigel?) to provide yet another lucky draw. "You're spoiling us, guys!!!" but Thanks though!! haha, always nice to win something. was totally not expecting it, totally.

anyway, had a good time. Will Kennedy is a super nice guy, much like Gregg Bissonette. what i remembered most was him showing us his stick control and then proceeding to demo on the wood floor of the stage so we could all see clearer. and of cos him getting the audience to be his beatbox

(i miss the hoppy blue ball)
