Hey just wanna check with yall, if you want a setup for your guitar, who do you recommend?
I read from this forum got several reputable technicians, like Malcolm, Beez and Raymond, who do I look for?
I mean an electric guitar setup.
Thank you all for replying me!!!
Happy new year to everyone !!!

For me...

- Beez for simple set-ups, mods and repairs, including electronic works.
- Malcolm for more complex jobs like nut-cut, fret replacement or redress, and major fixes.

Another guy i'd highly recommend is Mike at SV Guitars. His handiwork is apparent on every single guitar in the shop.

I fully agree. He sets every guitar he sells, so don't be too quick to ask for a new piece as those hanging on the display racks are all set up properly. :)

I'm not paid nor am I an employee of SV but I vouch for their workmanship, be it setup, wiring, refretting, etc. Only gripe I have is I can't smoke in the shop. Haha!

Happy New Year, all!

My friend recommended Sound Alchemy. But what's mentioned above, Malcolm, if you have the budget. Ready about $250 (usually less than $200 but in case). He cleans up your guitar, intonate it and add in any stuff that'll make your guitar a lot playable.

my opinion? try them all out and see who you prefer. from there, you will find your preference for setups too. expensive process but at least you will know your preference which I feel as a guitar player is very important.

I always go to TYMC for simple setup and electronics wiring etc, they are good! But when the time comes to major setup or fixing difficult problems, Malcolm is the man!

Hey guys,

I never actually send my guitar for pro setup. Just curious what is normally covered under a basic setup?

I learned to do basic setup like adjusting truss rod, string height, setting different gauge, intonation and electronics from google/youtube. I took some time but I enjoyed the process.

I would probably want to send my floyd rose/wilkinson bridge guitars for setup as it looks complicated and might need special tool for setting intonation. Is it going to be the same charge?
