White Lion

Vito Bratta was one of the more melodic players during that time, drawn heavily from VH but yet with his own style :supz:

i do.. i used to actually... since they now disband.. but they had some great songs.. mike tramp vocals are quite nice.. along with vito guitar solos... my favourite album of theirs was Mane Attraction... it features a nice ballad called Till death do us part... was one of the songs i learnt by ear in the early 90s..

Anyone else?

white lion

me too.one of my favourites.when the children cry is one of the best ballad and to me very true.till death do us part ,cry for freedom and alot more.
hair metal band rules and they do create very touching and sad ballads.miss those kind of bands :(

Oh, I do definitely! I travelled to Melbourne in March to catch Mike Tramp too. He's still real awesome. Played a bunch from his solo stuff and a good deal from his White Lion days. His voice may have mellowed abit, but he still has the rock n roll in him.

Now with Tramp's White Lion making a return, who knows, they may actually drop by soon :)

If I knew how to post photos here, I'd post a couple from the gig.

Edit: Just wanted to say that "Living on the Edge" is my favourite White Lion tune out there. But definitely "When The Children Cry" etc are awesome!!

My favourites :

Wait
Leave Me Alone
Hungry

Used to be heavily into Vito's chordwork - superb for a 3 piece band lah!!!From the school of EVH!!!

Still listen to them - if you listen to Vito's chordwork on their 1st album, you will notice that he doesn't play the same chord twice - wierd but true - for example if he plays the 1st verse and starts off with a Amaj barre chord, in the 2nd verse he will play the Amaj but with the 3rd on the sixth string instead of the root...don't know if u guyz understand, basically he plays variations of every chord (different shapes) and he doesn't play the same shape twice in any song...he also says in an interview.

Love that band.

Hungry intro kick ass! I'll play air guitar each time I hear that intro.

Vito Bratta uses Steinberger no?

the road to valhalla :)

Vito's tone and the songs on Mane Attraction, personal fav album. on the verses of 'Lights and Thunder' had that riff and vocal swagger, so led-zep influenced. yummy.

Good guitar player. Excellent solos - lots of feel and originality. It may not be fair to say that Vito Bratta is a Van Halen clone. His acoustic playing is vastly better and his solos, while not necessarily better, are a lot more melodic and has lots of classical music overtones. Van Halen had lots more album out and thus he takes the nod. But Vito Bratta, in his short helm with recording did make a mark.

A few of his solos are in the truly cool category.

Cheers
RoRK!

According to my magic crystal ball, he's made it big in real estate. He's still jamming with his croonies. He will not make a comeback. He's had enough of rock. Cheers and have a great weekend everyone!

Boy, White Lion's been one of my favourite 80s' band and strangely, I listened to Vito Bratta before knowing about Eddie Van Halen! *lol* Absolutely loved his tone in his songs (Especially on Blue Monday, a SRV tribute) but I've read that his gear varies from album to to album, swearing on Strats (Fender/ESP) and Steinbergers.

Here's a clip of me playing Wait's solo:

and a sloopy solo on 'Love don't come easy'
