Hi,

I'm currently looking for a delay pedal.
Does any of u own these two pedal?
Which one should I get?
Does the Time Machine delay give a warm delay sound? More function?
I would get MXR Carbon for it's compact size but it seems that Time Machine has more functionality.

that ^^^

same price as the carbon copy, way better modulation, no sickening ticking clock noise.. no need to access internal trimpots to tweak modulation.

You're comparing apples with oranges really. I think it all boils down to whether you prefer analog warmth of digital functionality (especially tap tempo). Of course, there are analog delays with tap tempo functionality (e.g. Diamond Memory Lane, Malekko 919, SD Deja Vu), but they are not within the same price range as the 2 pedals you mentioned.

If you are looking to get an analog delay, do check out the new EHX Memory Toy. Its about $130 SGD (if you ship it in from Tonefactor), and has seen rave reviews all over the internet. The Carbon Copy is notorious for dying due to static apparently.

Should you desire a digital delay instead, do check out the DD-7. I have one, and it's really awesome - crystal clear repeats, tap tempo, a looper, a decent analog-voiced delay, etc.

The deciding factor in the analog v digital debate seems to be whether you use delay as an effect (think U2, dotted eighths, etc.) or just to add warmth to your tone. I've used delays without tap tempos for the former purpose, and found that it's much harder to have your repeats be in time as compared to digital delays.

Hi there, i am currently using the time machine and i must say for the price u pay for it, it's definitely value for money since u get alot of versatility. To me the biggest plus points are the tap tempo, choice to toggle between analog and digital (fyi the analog delay is tweaked to sound like the gd old echo plex analog delay), and the hi-fi/lo-fi switch that kinda acts like a treble/clarity switch.

All in all it's a really versatile delay pedal with lots of different delay tones to discover from. Oh and btw it can oscillate like mad! I do agree that there are other really nice delay pedals out there like the malekko which is a really sweet pedal as well, so the best way to conclude is to take our suggestions and try them out if possible then decide which suits u the best! Cheers!

Thank u for the suggestions, guys:-)
Hmm..any local dealer for this Malekko...I was Blackwood just now, I think I saw somthing similiar.
Yup, space issue...I'm zooming down to EHX Memory Toy or Malekko.
