which music school to choose??

Hi guys,
i planning to learn pop piano and looking for a music school.

after checking on the internet, i found this 2 schools
play-by-ear & harkmusic

Can anyone give some comments or advices on these 2 schools?

what i know is that play-by-ear is indiviual lesson and harkmusic is group lesson. what are the pros and cons between indiviual and group?
will group lesson affect my progress?

please help me on this.

im still a beginner and i hoping to learn to play some chinese or english pop.

yea. thanks. i ahd read the thread and i think i will go "play-by-ear" and ask for a demo. if its what i want then i will take up there.

It depends on what you would like to learn when you say pop piano.

1) Sing and play style. Means you basically play the accompaniment without/with very little of the melody line.

2) Play the entire song including the melody on the piano.

I have been to both schools, and I would say that Hark is all about (1) and Play-by-ear is all about (2).

In a band setting, I would say (1) would be the choice.

joelong, did you ask your play by ear teacher to teach you how to play in a band setting?

Many instructors are involved or have experienced with band in PBE. If you ultimate goal is to play jazz ,very likely if you are put to experience/senior instructor from the start.
