Hi guys i'm getting a metronome but....
what's the difference between a $30 and a $300 metronome?
do i really need a high end 1?

thanks !

well i guess e price difference would be e functions.
to me a metronome is used to help in timing.

so most impt for wad i look for in e metronome is e diff timing like 4s/8s/16s/triplets etc.

erm an earjack and a tap in function. just my 2cents of advice
a metronome with these functions would cost abt $50 odd brand new i guess

depends on ur needs. if u need one that enables u to keep in time with weird time signatures like may 7/8 or 5/8, or maybe if u venture into poly rhythmic stuff then i guess a cheap metronome would not be suitable. but a good metronome would be the cherub ones they sell in ranking. haha. if im not wrong its cheaper than 50. and enables u to have timings in triplets, quavers, crotchets and semiquavers. the only set back is e ear jack is mono. haha but im happy with it.

thanks for the input guys.
i was comparing between some $50 range metronome and the tama 1. the only difference i noticed was the preset thing. and perhaps the tap function.
so in the long run, it wld be better to invest in a better metronome?

The high end ones usually have more functions... an example would be the clickstation. You can program in midi files, pre-set your "beats" and all that stuff. Don't get me wrong, its a great metronome, but its overpriced at $300, and TBQH, I didn't need all the functions.

IMO, it doensn't matter if you're just starting out or a professional drummer. As long as your metronome keeps accurate time, allows you to change the more important settings, and is reasonably priced, its a good metronome. Ie. the Boss DB-99 or something like that. It's like $100+ before discount, and its solid. Small, compact and gets the job done.
