The most popular metal bands are the bands whose CDs you can easily find at Sembawang and CD Rama outlets. Those bands are probably also the most 'mainstream'. No offense to anyone, but if you want to get the biggest fanbase, you have to go mainstream.

One cannot argue that the heavier and more extreme a band is, the more limited their public appeal is. Ah well, I don't care if a band is popular or not. Malevolent Creation was never one of the more popular metal bands but they're among my favourite death metal bands anyway. Who cares?
