which is better?

hey guys,, i was just surfing the net and i came across a question.. what kind of wood for drums is good? ok i noe tt the basic is mahagony. and maple is like the best? what about poplar? are there any other materials? can help on this issue? thanks

i think best here is subjective... it depends on what kind of sound one wants to get...

expensive wood are good, but may not be the best...

being a guitarist, i'm not very sure of the percussive nature of specific woods but i'd think that mahogany gives deep and bassy while maple is bright
