ive been playing for a while with acoustic guitar n feeling like want to try electric.

but since i never own an electric guitar so i dont know what to expect only own bass last time abt 8yrs ago :-D

im like playing foo fighter, muse, led zeppelin, metalica, creed, the strokes n other similar band

my budget will be abt 300-500 for guitar?or the whole package

hows the Ibanez GRX40JE JumpStart

thanks for the advise

1) Try to get a 2nd hand guitar
2) Get 2nd hand amp

Getting used items is more bang for buck compared to getting new @ your budget.

Go to shops and test out models that you feel comfortable playing.
After which look around classifieds.

Since you already own an acoustic, you don't have to rush into getting an electric.

the SX GG1K package ($299) list is also a good consideration: http://soft.com.sg/forum/showthread.php?t=13272

so compare to Ibanez GRX40JE JumpStart the SX GG1K are better?

how about these 2?whats the big diffrent else than the pickup?

Ibanez GSA60 GSA Series Electric Guitar

Ibanez GRG270 GRG Series Electric Guitar

maybe i can take new guitar n look for 2nd amp :)

@lightice

yes dont need to be so hury :) it just my acoustic is not a cut body so i cant reach the high note

thanks

there's no 'better', just what you need- do you need single coils? if you don't, the dual humbucking GG1K would serve you better...

ibanez's GSA has a curved top body & a standard action (non-locking/ floating) vibrato bridge. it has 2 lesser frets than the GRG270. if you don't whammy, avoid the GRG270's locking unit as it's a hassle to re-string + tuning issues.

in the GIO Ibanez domain, i'd recommend these:

*GSZ120
*GAX70
*GRG121

i mean better in term of my kind of music?what can i expect on single coil n humbucking?

ok then whats the bang of the bucks for good whammy guitar?so i dont have to much trouble on re tune my guitar?or theres some trick to get it right?

ill be okay if i have to retune my guitar one a week?

the type of music you are indulgent in very much relies on upper levels of drive/ distortion which isn't the forte of single coils; these pickups hum excessively when driven. unless you want tonal variety from the same guitar, having a dual humbucking option would be preferred.

good whammy implements come at a price; if you intend to get an Ibanez selection, opt for models sporting Edge III/ Pro models. these are beyond your stated budget unless you make do with used items which could be had from the buy/ sell section.

maybe u wanna try the LTD. davies sells them, i think. last i went was a month ago i think. they WERE $300++ that range. come in packages. guitar, amp and whatever else. bu i heard the amp suck. i HEARD.

Ibanez RGR321EX

TGM Les Paul Design(Sunburst)

which one suite me better?

you have to try both for the feel. the GRG has a lacquer free neck feel, very different from the TGM. you might also wanna consider this:

That is a LTD EC-50. It is available at Davis, Peninsula Shopping centre, basement level.

Do check out LTD Viper-50, EX-50, F-50 and other 50-series LTD guitars. They cost all the same at around $300 plus and sound almost the same. The only difference is the body shape.

sorry late reply. so yeah billthegeek answered ur question.

the LTD series comes in packages at that price. and i have the TGM lespaul.

but gee, too bad i can't say if its good coz i donoe whats good and whats not. hahah.
just to say, i have no regrets.i like the neck and the bridge sound when played clean. when overdrived, it sounds like trumpet. its my 1st electric and i'll keep it even if i get a new guitar.

thanks for the link, its bit qonfusing no navigate inside the web i cant find the LTD?so i think ill take a look tomorow

for the amp im aiming for Roland Cube 30x

i hope still can get a good whammy guitar :D

well after i go round for a few days

i think i take 2nd one.theres a shop at b1 that sell 2nd guitar n they show me shure they said its a korean brand.

physic good enough,it got 2 single coil n 1 hum pickup.with tremolo

the shop owner play for me n still sound ok to me they offer me $300

i also considering the fender squier, they sell abt $300 new...

means that it isn't covered in a gloss layer like Gibson guitars. some people find the gloss coating 'sticky' when they sweat. to them, this affects play.

bro - if U never played electric before its difficult to know whats gonna suit U. My advise to try as many friends diffiren type of guitars to see what kind neck, body, pups etc suit your style then buy a similar piece.

I have come to the stage I know exactly what I want fromm my guitars and rather than buy them off the rack, I just order the parts according to my fav specs and build them mysself.
