Currently I'm kinda in a fix to decide on which program to use as my main recording "amp". Yes, I can't afford an expensive amp to do recording with so I'm using programs that emulate the amps.
So what program are you using now? And what are the strengths and weaknesses of each?
I used to use Gearbox (Line 6), but now I'm trying Guitar Rig 3 (Native Instruments). For one, GR3 sounds rather convincing and not too hard to get a good tone out of it. For the gearbox, it's abit tougher, but I've managed to get the tone I wanted. Please do take note that I DON'T use the given distortion in it. I use my own pedals for effects.
Hope I can gather information on them. Cause right now, I'm trying out demos of Amplitube 2 (IK), GTR3 (Waves) and the Peavey Revalver MkIII (this program is damn awesome, but there are some problems with the demo).
