by that i mean the effects processor readily available in singapore, if it helps here is some info, i play mostly metal and looking for effects rather than a processor that gives me a bunch of useless crap i dont need. such as modeling 50 different vintage amps, and end up only using 1

build in expression pedal would be cool

built in tube too

NO BLOCK FX, i want one with free control and synchronisation of fx.

and im a budget freak , so im looking for one that is of value for it's price!

i have shortlisted some processors that interest me, but feel free to recommend others!

POD HD500
BOSS GT (6,8,10)
ZOOM g7.ut
DigiTech RP500

im not experienced in the field of effects processors so ill need a good user experience and explanation in choosing and a good processor

Line 6 POD HD500 wins hands down. Don't even compare to older MFX from Boss/Zoom/Digitech.

No tube, buy a tube amp if it matters to you.

Go to CityMusic, ask them to demo and explain to you. Then walk out of there with a new HD500. Simple :P

The HD is the best in the list. It becomes your entire rig so don't expect to tweak your knobs on the fly at the start. You need to really fine-tune your sound to your preference.

the boss gt-10 goes for 1.5k at swee lee, two times the price of a HD500 , if the pod is that good , i might consider it!

heheh , im playing it through a 15 watt bedroom amp, will it make a difference compared to a 70 watt amp, if its meant for bedroom practice?

Of course the sound would be different. The only 15W I've ever liked is the Vox Pathfinder, and that is only when the entire amp is shaking cause of the volume lol

o.o are you kidding?

so if i walk in and say i want to buy this . they will charge me $800 no questions?
also , nice taste in music

I bought and sold a GT-10 last year at around $550. Even those $700 on the classifieds nowadays are not worth it. So the shop price is not a good indicator.

Of course it will sound different at bedroom level, but if your 15w amp has a decent clean tone as a base to build on, the POD's amp sims are probably the best in normal floor effects units.

a quick price check on musiciansfriend.com shows that both the gt-10 and hd500 are going for US$500, which is around S$611 at the current exchange rate.

i've tried gt-10, korg ax3000, vox tonelab, zoom g2.1u and pod x3 live and so far, the hd500 is the best in terms of amp simulation and feel. it is almost comparable to eleven rack and axe-fx rack unit modellers which are around $1000 and $2500 respectively. i'm not sure how the digitech line of multi effects compare but i heard they're quite good too.

ax3000 used to sound nice until they released the pod x3. then the gt-10 made the x3 sound noob. then the hd500 pwned it. then the ax3000 is at the bottom of the food chain. natural progression. totally sucks because we gotta keep buying stuff

I wonder who will pwn the HD500... :D

current majority of the modelling community feels that the eleven rack and axe fx eats the pod up for breakfast lunch and dinner, but they're rack units nonetheless! =D

eagerly waiting for a much anticipated 1.3 firmware release on the 19th of this month for the pod hd. lots of bug fixes and lots of extra features

lol this started out with a budget of hd500. pretty sure the axefx and elevenrack totally out of budget. but if got money buy those. maybe i'll buy if i ever earn big bucks.
