Hi softies, need ur help[again] . I.m planning to buy a cheap effect .
So guys which effect do you prefer?

Danelectro FAB Distortion/FAB Metal ?

I dunno which one to get, the sound of the Fab distortion sound good but the Fab metal sounds better as the distortion is more heavier . But one thing about the Fab metal is that its too trebly and noisy , quite a pain in the ear . I'm using a Randall's RG15XM amp mostly play rock , metal and blues .

neither. save up for something better. seriously. its worth the wait

i agree with that. you can look into getting a moded ds-1 or mt-2 if you're on a tight budget. there are a few being sold in the buy/sell section. but for now, just crank up your gain on your amp.

If you are on a budget then get those Cool Cat pedals instead of the FAB series. The Cool Cat pedals sound much better. If not, save up for something better.

IMO, go for a effect that suits your needs rather than to get one that is affordable but does not produce the sound you want. DS-1 is a good choice or you may want to try the Biyang range of effects. They are worth the money. ;)

cool , i'm planning to buy the ds-1 actually . But one prob , i need it now . My amp quite suck actually , it only have clean and overdrive . i need distortion . Plus the sound from the amp is so bad . Thats why i looking for a cheap distortion pedal like dannys .

So those Coolcats are better than Fabs? should i buy or wait? I only have $40 in my pocket , or should i save more to buy a ds-1?

If i were you and i had the patience and means, i would save up even more and get a better amp.

Most people often overlook this but nothing beats a direct amp to guitar chemistry, and a bad amp will make whatever pedal you have/whatever guitar you have sound mediocre.

( In other words not to possibly their full potential )

But if you really want a dist pedal, like what the rest has said, save up more.

Listen to what others say but ultimately it boils down to your ears and what sort of sound you're looking for. If you have the opportunity to test pedals i suggest you do so.

if all you want is just distortion at a reasonable price, and you want it asap with the $40 that you have, coolcats are your best bet... from classic rock to kurt cobain along with decent sustain, who knows, you might end up using it as a permanent fixture... but in the long run, its best if you can try out different pedals 1st, to see which you like best and fits your playing style.
