Just asking where you guys go to have your electric guitar lessons, say for lead, rythym, bass etc.

Ive been self learning on how to play the guitar, and i think i should start taking lessons to broaden my experience but swear you guys didnt ask right..? OKAY!
THX!

Im a classical and electric guitarist for 5 years receiving lessons frm yamaha till today. I will be conducting guitar lessons after my Os. I have taught numerous students and currently i have 4 students now. If you're interested contact me at solomon_fcuk@hotmail.com

but ihow is yamaha teaching method like?cos i read before that you jam together with your classmate and if got 10 pple, you can hardly hear yourself playing!so you really dun know if you are hitting the right chords

That's why you'll benefit more from individual lessons. Personally, I feel that the teacher(Yamaha) would have you improve your overall playing techniques first over everything else like theory, but it depends on the instructor themselves too.

Yamaha lessons

Hi there.

I'm currently a student at Yamaha now.
The guitar lessons they offer there is relatively cheap i guess.
The pace at which u will learn is the pace of how the whole class is progressing.

So no matter how's your musical background like.
Be it from a total beginner not knowing how to read notes to people with musical background, they will coach you right down from the fundamentals.

I just picked up learning the guitar 4 months ago in a group class.
Started with 10 students but now the class has been reduced to 5 due to "dropouts".

If u have any enquires u can pm me to ask yea? :)

Oh ya and I think my teacher is pretty awesome.
Check out his website if u are free.

im self taught.. i learn thru vidz, online & my favorite guitarist. Of course you gotta have some theroy backing you, but I believe 'feel' is more important.

I was once a Yamaha student for 3 months. What can I say? I wouldn't recommend them honestly, but it's up to you.

It'll be better for you to get a private instructor for the first few months to get your basics right, after that you can go on the "self-taught" route as mentioned by bro leecs.

No matter how awesome or godly your instructor is, you will never be good if you don't practice

wah, very chiem leh, so in which way do you prefer?

the guy i'm gng to recommend also veri particular, if the student is lazy and doesn't practise, he'll tell the student to look for someone else.

Hmm for me the way I teach is make sure u know your chords 1st those major and minor chords and 7th chords. Then I'll teach scales and I strongly recommend u learn to read notes but if you don't want what can I do?? after that i'll teach chord construction like maj7th, 11th, 6th ,13th etc etc etc....
while teaching you those stuff like scales I'll teach alt picking and solo techniques like bending, vibrato, etc etc etc. So when u can play reasonably well for chords and scales then I'll teach diff kinds of rhythm those kind used in funk, jazz, \m/etal, etc, etc, etc and also how to train on speed, by that time u can play some songs already. In my opinion the best songs to train on for picking is classical music, I used to take my piano scores and play the right hand part on the guitar or violin scores that's why I said it's good to learn how to read notes. That will solve the common picking problems like inconsistance when u speed pick and pick wrong strings when u change strings or string skip and also control your sound so it won't get muddy when u play with distortion. And of course for the SHREDDERS wannabe train your SPEED!!
