Hi,

I want to get my first electric guitar, i've been playing on an acoustic guitar for 4 years now and want to get an electric so i can play different styles of music.
I researched on guitars and want to get an Epiphone Les Paul.
My budget is $600. Is there any places here that sell them at that price ? I was thinking of going to Peninsula Plaza on Saturday, is that a good choice ? If so is there any particular shop ?

Thanks.

:EDIT, oh no ! I misspelled Epiphone ! Sorry !

yeah Peninsula is a good place to start for a cheap Epiphones. I don't know about 600 bucks but its worth a shot there. If you cant find one theres always the classifieds page

the nicer ones (LP std, etc) go for at least 700bucks...but there are epi LPs there (LP 100, etc) that are below your budget actually...i would suggest you find the extra 100 and get a decent one...saw a 56 goldtop there with P90s...sweet...

700 eh ? Alright, i can up my budget. Thanks for the suggestions. Do i need anything else ? My uncle is giving me his Marshall amp.

Hmmm i feel that there are better alternatives to Epiphones out there that are cheaper.......you can try the Rally GL300 at SV Guitars, the FGN LP copies at TyMusic and if you think you can up your budget, the Edwards LP copies at Davis. I personally like the GL300, you get a marvellous sounding guitar, and with the cash you have you can afford to upgrade the pickups to Teslas and add Orange Drop in. You'll get an absolutely killer guitar (for the price) for your budget, you might wanna try that.

Tymusic also have FGN ?
Woodworkz has their own brand toto at 500 or 550 i think.
citymusic has a variety of lps also. not bad to try .
Btw loldude can tell me how much are GL300s ? pm if u dunwant to say it out here.
thanks a lot.

GL300-$390
Set of Tesla Plasma IIs-$250 including installation (i think)
Orange drop+installation i dunno.

Total should not be more than $700, maybe a little of $600. Damn good value if you ask me.

Thanks alot loldude. That seems like a very good idea.

Np, but i strongly suggest you give the guitars you're considering a thorough test. The LP copies will never sound exactly like LPs, only a true Gibson LP can give you that. Not even an Epi LP can. You might find something you like better in another guitar though, so always keep an open mind.

bro..doesnt matter wad pple say..
if u tink u like the guitar and u're comfortable with it,go ahead.be it samick or tgm or J&D.
they have les paul copies u noe..and with dat budget u can get a decent guitar

No, i don't think so. But they have Grassroots and Edwards stuff, not sure if it's Fujigen. Woodworkz does have FGN stuff tho.

Thanks guys. I intend to spend a few hours in peninsula trying the guitars. Must be something there right ?

Definitely... And please, feel the neck of a Paul. It looks damn nice, but everyone needs time to get accustomed to the neck. It was a pretty big change from an acoustic for me.

Depends on which acoustic you're using, my Takamine has a very LP-style neck, a far cry from the Ibanez Wizard II neck i'm more used to. But yeah, spend a few hours there, with a more experienced friend if possible. Some shops aren't very noob-friendly (apologies if i offended you), those that are include SV Guitars and TyMusic.

Just an update. I bought the Rally GL-300 from SV guitars ( thanks loldude) i didn't touch the pickups or capacitors yet. Going to upgrade them on Saturday, paid $350 for it. Amazingly it sounded identical to the $800 Epiphone but felt more comfortable. Does anyone know where i can get the Orange drops and Pickups installed ?

Yeap, SV is the place to get 'em. If you've got more money, or think Tesla pickups don't appeal to you, Mike also has DiMarzios and Lace Sensors in the shop. But IMHO the range of Teslas he has should be more than enough to satisfy your tonal wants.

Thanks, i saw the teslas in SV. Does anyone know where to get orange drops ? Also where can i get these installed. I'm not very handy.
