Hi, anyone can tell me where to fix my les paul's sticky neck problem. Its probably due to its finish.

I've pmed tymc, but they dont provide any finishing services.

thanks!

u can try to diy, if u sand the lacquer mildly with a fine grain sand paper it will make the neck feel smoother, but it'll sort of destroy the gloss in the process

Ive tried its slightly better but still is sticky... So i wud prefer to hand it to professional haha. Anyway thanks for all the helped, i've pmed kaycee and is waiting for a reply now. thanks!

wahaha, u spilled coke on ur neck or what! haha try using a grainier sandpaper perhaps? but if u're going for aesthetics, better to refinish ur neck to a matt or something similar. sanded down lacquer.. vintage! >.<

I tink its the lacquer problem... Hm how does a matt finish feels la haha i hve no idea...

for matt finish, there's a clear coat over the wood, but it doesn't have the "sticky" feeling because it's not glossy. easier to slide ur thumb up and down the neck, but if u slide too much, like after a few years of playing, the matt finish actually becomes slightly glossy cause ur thumb "polishing" effect. haha mine's becoming quite glossy now, but not sticky so it's fine for me

Just use a Scotch Brite sponge:

I did it for all my guitar necks.

The suggestions here are good. You can actually use 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Soak the paper over night in a basin and you can wet sand down the neck the next day. Repeat process until not sticky. Another quick fix is go to a snooker/pool cue shop and buy some cue cleaning accessories. Those will make the neck feel very much smoother
