I'm planning for my next guitar build, but i have no idea where to get tone wood blanks, so i thought i'd ask here as of where i can purchase these woods in singapore, would be a who** to import them over online, so yeah >.<

Any ideas ?

eBay would be the best option. Singapore only sells ply wood. you can check with furniture stores.

My advice is, spend more on quality wood. you won't waste time and money.

Hey Ikko, you can check with door/flooring/furniture places for a start.

Keep in mind there is no such thing as a tone wood, wood is wood. :)

Hearing this "wood is wood", coming from a guitar builder is refreshing. Well said. :)

Of course, pple will then argue, there's the maple, mahogany, basswood, etc... tone wood

i don't build guitars but i read a lot on wood. malaysian master luthier jeffrey yong made an acoustic guitar with monkeypod, not a regular 'tonewood' like spruce etc. at all and he won some blind testing thing a few years back.

There are many wood merchants but few would know the requirements of guitar making wood. LMI (http://www.lmii.com/) is pretty comprehensive in its selection of tone woods. Alternatively, you can seek out for Luthiers. They may have some stock piles waiting to be cleared. Also, it will make things easy if you already know the type of wood you're looking for.
