Anyway anyone know of a good but cheap 6 string "stingrayish" bass?

1) stingray comes up to 5 strings, a six stringer must probably be a CUSTOM stingray
2) stingrays are active basses. most stingray copies are passive electronics , IMO quite hard to get a similar tone

there IS one such bass .. but ONLI one and its abit awkard cos it has double humbuckers but sounds pretty similar ...
i think its the John Myung signature bass model , its 6 string and i heard its sound is quite similar to a stingray from people who have test driven both b4

well, u can try J&D... they have a stingray copy if i can recall... just add a outboard preamp to make it active lor.

i have read on the internet that the ibanez atk bass has a stingray sound as well.
anyways the wakemeupmusic shop at queenstown has a stingray bass for sale. it's natural in color though. dunno whether its gone already

the ATK series by Ibanez has been discontinued, the ones you see in the stores here (if any) are pretty much left-overs. however, to preserve the stingray-type tone offering, Ibanez has the SRX400 to offer this year, which is available @ swee lee... 8)
