What Noise Gate is good for amp and guitar?

Hey softies!

Just wanna know what noise
gate pedal is good to reduce
the hums n hiss for my amp
and guitar?

Gears:
VHT Special 6 Ultra combo
(JJ 6L6gc and JJ ecc83s)
Ibanez RG370DX
Modtone Extreme Metal

For the amp alone, at high
gain settings, it creates an
irritating hiss n hums.

For my guitar, the 60-cycle
hum of the single coil pickup.

The pedal, zzzzzzzz bzzzzzzzz
hhhmmmmmm ttttttttttzzzzzz!
Lol. But i like the sound of the
gain.

In my mind:
BOSS NS-2
MXR Smart Gate
MXR Noise Clamp
Beta Aivin NG-100

Any recomendations guys?

Noise gates don't reduce hum/hiss.. they simply cut off all audio once the input goes below a certain threshold. The noise will still be present while you are playing.

To really get rid of noise you should look at better shielding in your electronics cavity and cables. Your power source could also be causing the noise; I had to run my amp and effects through a transformer to get rid of hiss.

Noise gates are definitely a last resort.

compressor doesnt resuce hum/hiss/noise or boost anything. Infact, some compressor pedals gonna add its own noise to the signal chain when compressed too much outta it. Compression is another entirely different process to reducing hum or decibel boost.

Instead of randomly getting anything without knowing what it does, imho, do spend some time to find out the cause of the hum and hiss and work from there.

This is what ive notice.
Hiss, hums n squeels from my
amp at high gain, hum single coil
pickup(didnt use it much), hiss from
amp at high volume n gain after turning
off guitar volume.

heh, the few reason mentioned, other then the single coil hums, mostly are due to the way those equipment are being used. High vol and and high gain and if in a bedroom setting, all those hiss hum going to be much obvious and irritating.

Yupz... Im a bedroom player. No
gigs or whatsoever. Max volume i
go is 1oclock. Mostly 9-10oclock.
How much is a boss ns-2 cost now?
The mxr noise clamp is $145 if im
not wrong at davis.
