What mods are there for Wah?

Hey guys just curious. Apart from true bypass, are there any other mods that you can do on your wah?

and what does it exactly mean by, true bypass?

u could, uh, convert it to a volume pedal. :P

but seriously... other stuff... u can change the frequency range or the tone of the wah, depending on the model. i'm not a pedal expert though so don't ask me which parts to change!

also... there was some mention of a fasel thing on the forums rite? i didn't quite get that either. :|

You can swap the inductors to the current production Fasels, you can change the pots to Propot or other brands to improve the sweep and also sound, you can make the Q variable etc etc.

There are quite a few things you can do with a wah.

Besides what Edder mentioned, I've also changed the some resistor values in my Vox to increase vocality (vocal mod), improve heel bass response, and adding a lil midrange. You got to have the schematics to know what resistors affect which type of sound!

Hope that helps.

anyway, in simplest terms, true bypassing a pedal just means that the circuity of the pedal is completely removed from the signal when its off.(bypass)

is it possible for me to get my morley mark tremonti power wah modded to be able to tweak the vocality of the wah.... like the 'Q' switch on the RMC 2 wah or the dunlop 535q?

i'd be really cool to get mroe than just one standard from my wah wah...

yeah, was gonna ask the same thing....can it be done?

Vocality gives you a more open defined "wah" sound. It boosts the upper mid frequencies.

As long you have the schematics of your wah, you can change a resistor to boost vocality. As for the Q-knob, edder would be a better position to comment on this. Perhaps adding a variable resistance knob will let you tweak the vocality.

But one thing about having lots of diff sounds coming out of your wah, sometimes it can be a double-edged sword. It gives you flexibility but you might like to find your wah tone and just "plug and play" it ( i'm a lazy person so I love to tweak my wah to be plugged and ready without having to turn any knobs since most of the knobs are not adjustable by foot)

I didn't really like the stock sound of the JD original crybaby cause I prefer a more open vintage wah. Perhaps it could be better with a bit of vocality. But theres only so much you can do with mods as compared to buying another pedal closer to what you like to hear..

So I bought a Vox 847, modded it and lovin it since...

vocality meaning? how sensitive the expression pedal is?

Normal wah is "WAaaaaaaahhH", more vocal wld sound more like "WOoooooOW"... Thats how my ears hear it, without going in the technicalities...
