What keyboard

:) I have read some of the threads here and most of you mentioned about those synthesiers keyboards and other stuffs and I am quite confused. Can help to answer the following questions.

1) May I know what is the difference between a syntheiser and a ordinary keyboard like yamaha psr275 ?

2) What it means by weighted & unweighted keys ? Does touch sensitive similar and is weighted keyboards much more expensive.

3) Why do some of you connect your keyboard to the computer ? Is it for song writing or arranging ?

4) Supposing if I am a new beginner and my purpose is to learn how to play a song, read notes/chords etc and mostly play worship songs, what kind of keyboard is suitable for me. Is yamaha psr275 suitable ?

1. what people mostly know as synthesizers actually comprises of 2 components: The synthesizer module and the controller (keys, sliders etc). Functionally there is no difference between any synth, psr275 is the same as triton extreme, except that one has high quality sounds, better controllers, valves and a higher pricing bracket to match.

2. One has weights! No really... and is meant to simulate piano keys, and is more expensive.

3. i connect to computer because i use software synths, and use the computer to sequence. Also this means the computer becomes the synth and the keyboard the controller.

4. It really depends upon your preference for sound and budget.
