well yea what is the difference? anyone experienced it (besides the fact that one is h-s-h and the other is s-s-h) and is the GSA worth 80 dollars more?

main differences:

*number of frets- GSA (22) vs GRG (24)

*GSA has a quillted maple laminate top, the GRG is devoid of one

*the GSA has a curved body top (just like the SA series), the GRG's is flat.

the GSA costs more due to its cosmetic top, which adds zilch to tone

so really im payin just for cosmestic and not sound quality? O.o

so 300 for the 6months old grg and 380 for the 3 months old gsa can someone tell me which is a better buy or neither

the extra $$$ is worth it if the guitar in question is better maintained. age aside, try both guitars, get the one you like playing/ you like to hear.

unlike the RG & SA models, which sport different wood types (RG- basswood/ SA- mahogany), both the GRG/ GSA are basswood models. there would be marginal tonal difference, it's more about playability.

well the grg guy just stopped contacting me and i cant get hold of hm so i gues im going for the gsa... but how do i know its not a fake...

thus far, there's no fake GSA models, it's a very affordable guitar, the cost of making a fake would exceed an original. if you need a visual reference of the guitar, go to Ibanez's homepage & print out the details.

if you can spare the time, visit Swee Lee's bras basah showroom, there are Ibanez Gio catalogues just next to the entrance (glass) door (to the left). look for a brown box, ask for a copy, they'll be glad to spare you one 8)

then it's a good wager, but i'd ask for $350... 8) if it comes with a bag/ accessories/ other goodies, $380 is very reasonable.
