What is considered a "Pass" in O-levels?

Ah I see, thank you very much.
Definitely not aiming for ANYWHERE near that hehe, just that it took a huge weight off my back(involving physics :P).

Thanks again.

well my dear... a pass in O level is considered a minimum L1R4 less than 20 to get you into a polytechnic... because otherwise, you either go to private schools or retake of go to ITE..

you do the math and all the best for your O's!

Hm?
Ok, I understand that L1R4 thing.
So it means that if say I get D7 for one thing and A1 for the rest it's still considered a pass right?

I just really wanted to know the technical "Pass" grade of a single subject disregarding the rest. Is Westpunx correct?

i got 24 for my L1R4 but still manage to get in local poly without any appealing

yes d7 is a fail

im 2004..my fren got As in all his subjects save english(d7)..

he got really mad..he flung his results to the other side of the hall.. :D

den he took part in DAE..den he got into a poly.

a pass is when you end up in ITE.
ending up in Poly is just preference.
ending up in JC is also preference.

so a minimum pass will be that you have a spot in ITE.

C6 is a pass..
L1R5 minimum 20 to be in JC..
Can appeal in even if u get a D7 in english, BUT u have to retake english the next year for O's..
and if u fail again.. bye bye liao..
poly is much more flexible now..
some courses require steep grades (L1R4 11 for aeronautical engineering or 35 for mechatronics)..
it varies depends on the course you are taking..

No, D7 is not a fail in 'O' levels standard. If you view it in school terms, then yes, a D7 constitutes to a fail grade 'coz D7 = 40 to 49 (or something like that).

Im not too sure whether is threadstarter asking about individual subjects in O level cert or not. He could be asking whats the min grade to score to be a 0 lvl cert holder or something

You know there is a summary that reflect how many passed subject and failed subject in the cert or somewhere else, if you see by that, D7 is a fail.

Other than the above, not too sure about the rest

Eh Pell, I already said I was asking about individual subjects.

Can anyone back up what Westpunx said?

As far as that article goes, Sub-pass is... what exactly does "Sub-Pass" mean? Is it a pass or is it a fail? Can't be in between what right?

Sub-pass in poly is still a pass.
Of course ah, we pay so much money per semester, the least they can do is pass us if we miss it by abit.

Sub-pass is not applicable for o levels..
you either pass or fail,, no thin line in between..
it applies in jc though..
even in jc its considered a fail..
