what happened to all the indie gigs?

Been busy for a while with exams and other commitments and haven't really been "in touch" as much as I would have had liked to be. What happened to all the small little gigs at nondescript venues? Is it the economy? =\

its still going on aint it. Even though it might not be as "every weekend" with shows going on, but a look over to the gigs forum, there seem to be quite a number of events here and there, paid or free shows.

At least for free, there were shoegaze weekend, +65 gig at esplanade over the last 2 weekend.

is there any sort of gig which you are expecting, but didnt see it from the gig forum? Coz it seem theres still action going on, even if slower, it be a good thing perhaps, without over saturation.

No expectations! Just not used to the change of pace, I guess. If anything, I'm glad to see that the newbie-scamming pay-to-play gigs seem to be over and done with.

I think you used to hear more about small gigs because they might be the only gigs around. But with more and more regular, well-advertised shows at places like Esplanade or Scape... majority of audiences are happy with that and don't really seek out the smaller venues. Unless you are damn hardcore into the "scene" or whatever
