I think keiith's a bit wrong here... listing everything out anyway:

Shiok: Feel good/kickass, etc. e.g.
"That was damn shiok!" is equivalent to
"That was damn kickass!"

Lor = more of a tag-on to the end of a sentence, like "man" e.g.
"That shit is really good lor!" is equivalent to
"That shit is really good man!"
Doesn't have any real meaning as far as I know.

Liao: Already e.g.
"I'm done with the toilet liao" is equivalent to
"I'm done with the toilet already"

Aiyah: More of an exclamation of exasperation e.g.
"Aiyah, that riff is nuts to learn, forget about it!"
"Sigh/Damn/Argh, that riff is nuts to learn, forget about it!"

Hai: Equivalent to a "tsk" or "sigh"

Wah lau: Exasperation too, similar expressions include things like WTH, e.g.
"Wah lau! Why'd you go and break the cup!"

when something is shiok=we get a real kick out of it.
lor=it's just a stupid sound. =\ "ya lor" simply means "ya" or "yes" but some people add the "lor" in out of habit. I think.
(if you meant LIAO instead) liao=already. "I ate liao" means "I ate already"
aiyah=just another stupid word. lol. i think it's just an expression? to sort of express yourself when you think something isn't worth your time, brooding over? "aiyah, it's no big deal", "aiyah, that's just life", "aiyah, what to do? just explain to him LOR"
hai=is this a sigh? or if it's like "she hai that person" I think it means something like she landed that person into some sort of trouble?
hor=something to end a question with? Another stupid sound. compare with lor. Lol. I think it's slightly similar to "right?". For example, "that's quite ok hor?" which actually is sort of similar to "it's ok right?"

these lahs n all are just there coz singaporeans cant seem to get the native english accent (british). any foreign land would speak english funny. canadians speak funny. so do americans. n aussies r no exceptions either :lol: n so in singapore this is the way itz made funny..with lah loh alamak haiya aiyah mah meh n what not. in china n india itz a very big comedy
