practice pads are for you to practice your drum strokes. without having your neighbours lodge a complaint about the ruckus that you create should you practice on a real drum set.
usually made of rubber or whatever hi-tech material they'll call it...i still think it's made of rubber.
last time, i didnt have cash to buy those pads..so i whack my pillows.
oh well anyway, u can get a remo practice pad for less than 30 bucks for one piece. bass drum practice pad, u can try gibraltar at ranking sports. in bras basah. but i seriously won't recommend those. it's very flimsy. i might just damage the stands within a week or so.
if u have the money, u can go for electronic kits. they are rubber pads with a "brain".. u get sounds from a drum kit when u hit each drum. roland uses mesh though..
there're alot of alternatives for "practice-pad".. pillow is one. phone book is also one.
my neighbour complained my phone books hitting.. oh well, it was at 12 midnight.
I actually purchased the practice drum set yesterday from the shop at bras basah. Its not too bad for the price. Includes high-hat, snare, 3 toms, ride, bass drum and crash cymbol. I had to buy the drum throne seperately though. The only negative thing is that the high-hat, crash and ride are made out of plastic, so it actually creates an annoying "piack" noise when hit. Im thinking of actually placing a rubber sheet over it to reduce the sound.
Besides that, I think its a good investment for someone who jus needs to practice strokes and basic combos, and if you have fussy neighbours like mine
Hey i saw these set of electronic drumset going for 380 at ranking sports. I forgot the product name but the shop owner said u need to connect it to an amp to produce the sound. Has anyone tried this set? How is it? Can I use a hifi/guitar amp as the amp?
are the pracrice pads white in color?
if we are talking abt the same one, den it porbably is a inova pro drumkit, or at least a look alike,
i tried the set once, the sounds are awful, at least to my ears anyway
its better to use either bass or keyboard amps for edrumkits. guitar amps lack the lows and too much highs.
