What are pots?

i was advised to change these but i have no idea what they are. i've browsed some of em on allparts.com but there's a lot to be decided apparently:

250k or 500k?
split or solid shaft?

do i have to rewire my bass?
how much does it cost to do it and who can i go to?

btw, i play a SX Jazz. everything is stock. planning to change a lot of it, starting with the pots

the term "pot" is short form for potentiometers

Pots are the volume knobs.

Don't need to rewire your bass.

Stock means everything inside is original parts as it was shipped in.

Anyway, I do have some active circuits (ready ones) for bass gits, which will already make a major change to your tone and output. Just pm me if you keen.
