What are locking tuners?

Basically, locking tuners do not detune easily, as they ,well, they lock. Normal tuners don't have this locking mechanism, which means they can unwind and therefore cause the tuning to go awry. Locking tuners lock the cylindrical part of the tuner in position, so that the strings cannot move, therefore effectively keeping the guitar in tune indefinitely. Most ppl use locking tuners when they have guitars with floating bridges eg. FRs.

you can also have them in fixed bridge guitars; i have a set (Gotoh) in my LP BFG:

I'm not exactly sure, but look for images of those guitars with "double locking tremolo", and you'll see that the nut on the headstock looks really different

then wad's the difference in results of a locking bridge and a Lsr roller nut? when do we need a locking bridge and when do we need a roller nut?

these contraptions were invented to vary the solution to a common problem ie. tuning stability; one set of features may be more preferred (by the player/ isntrument designer) than another but they work, nevertheless.
