hey, to all out there. i´m thinking of getting myself a gadget with distortion. but the thing is, i dont know which one is the best...i´ve tried some like turbo and metal zone but im not sure. anyway, i need your advice. what is the best distortion gadget?

there´s no best distortion, it all depends on what kind of music you play.

soo what do you play?

What gear are you using ? Try and test out the distortion units on gear that is similar to yours (single coils/humbucker, type of guitar and amp). When you can get a sound similar to what you are looking for, then consider that one.

cheers,

I take it you´re focusing your search on models of stompboxes available via local dealers.

If so, you can demo them directly at the dealer´s location.

If you wish to perform a more intensive testing in a condusive environment, an effective way to find out which stomp box appeals to your ear is to visit a studio with a good selection of stomp boxes.

- rent a studio and a couple of effects and hear how they sound straight thru an amp (as you would in your bedroom) and then also how them sound when played alongside other instruments in a band context.

The best distortion pedal is- NONE. Fantastic distortion comes from your amp’s on-board circuit. Reputable amps would generate good drive to make you wanna play & improve your playing, not to mention trigger ideas.

If you’re running a small amp for domestic use, I understand your plight. However, do save up & invest in an amp, pedals are ok but IMO they interfere with true signals too much.

If you need something small....w/good distortion try a Trademark 10 by Tech21....great little amp sounds great when used for recording as well

Get a BOSS ME-50, Its got tonnes of overdrive and distortion, i´ve got a zoom too, this one is easy to use and has a more killer distortion!!! GO to swee lee and ask bout it. I think its sold out

+1 to wad ironickel said, though I dun like running a TS9 in front of my tube. Like what subversion said, I prefer only my tube amp´s distortion. For high volumes, can hear the tube saturation and rich harmonics. Can hear the tubes being pushed to their limit, the distortion is juz PURE and WARM. Beats the shit outta any distortion pedal.
