bought a pair of Wharfedale Titan 8 Active speakers (in Jan 2011) which i use sometimes for the live music setup at home. One of the speakers has stopped responding while the other works fine. The problematic doesn't have any sound. The lights come up just fine when i turn on. It has been less than 5 months and now i am questioning the quality of Wharfedale speakers in general. Has anyone faced the same problem? please let me know and please say how you managed to get the issue resolved.

Appreciate your response

Yes i have. They have asked me to bring it down for further investigation. Although under warranty for a year, they however mentioned that, if it is the speaker drum or something that is faulty, it is not covered under warranty. I checked the warrant terms and conditions and it doesn't quite mention that. But he was sounding as if that was the norm in the industry.

However, i am not going to buy into that argument. It has just been a little over 4 months and one of them is faulty and i think the company should take full responsibility of the item.

Anybody, any comments? if you have similar experience please let me know. My fear is that the company might just say the usual that it is the speaker that is faulty and it is not covered and i have for fork about certain amount (could be a few hundred even) for a 300+ speaker. In that case what to do?

Just bring down to the shop and let them troubleshoot first. Maybe just contact loose.

Yes. did everything. changed power cables, mic cables, microphone etc. The other speaker works just fine in the same setting.

The question is: are Wharfedale Titan 8 Active speaker series reliable at all? Are there any other stories of this one breaking down quickly or too often?

Also is it true that the warranty for the speakers do not cover woofer or tweeter damage? The warranty card doesn't mention these in detail so i'm afraid the shop will just give some arguments and since i am not an expert, i shall only be able to nod my head and pay them up for any possible repair. So please help about how to deal with this situation would be so helpful for me.

first bring it back to the shop. ask them what's going on, if they claim anything that you don't like to hear as an answer, bring it to a few PA technicians or something and make sure it's the same "story" . if so then well, suck it up and just repair it I guess, if not, then we can open a new can of worms...

Woofer ,tweeter and any electronic break down for no apparent reason, it is usually covered under warranty. Usually the cabinet is not covered by warrenty. But you can bring them to shop to let them see if decided to do anything. If they try to stop you to repair under warranty, you can bring this matter to Whafedale. Note that Whafedale distributor in Singapore is City Music. http://www.wharfedalepro.com/Distributors/DistributorList/tabid/62/CountryID/65/Default.aspx They are the one to take care of your product issue.
