Well its gonna GET WORSE

some brainless entity is at work with all these new music laws. i can see the death of top 40 and cover bands here. they'll soon be infringing copyright laws and made to pay for some license shit.

Sometimes when civilisation has progress to a stage where it dunno which direction to take, it does the unthinkable and make a 180degree turn.

This is nothing.

Under European Union law, there are several even more crazy edicts that originate from Brussels telling the British what they can and cannot do.

Example 1)
All fruit and vegatables, meat, fish, etc. must be sold using grammes and kilogrammes for weights and measures (remember that England has used Imperial metrics for centuries and everybody understands pounds, ounces and so on - especially old ladies). So, consequently, all fruit, veg, etc. cannot be displayed in units that people are familiar with - fine to the vendor if caught selling 'a pound of bananas' to an old lady - 1000 pounds - about $3000 SGD.

Example 2)
Bananas. Yep. Simply bananas. This rule is the dumbest of the lot. A banana over a certain amount of curvature must conform to a template banana (or be straighter) than a reference banana (presumably plastic or gold or something) kept in Brussels. If you sell bananas that are more curved than that banana, you can be fined. I swear I am not making this up. The same goes for cucumbers.

hehe, they say it's illegal to download mp3s and till date, people still download and even to movies, latest session of US tv serial blah blah blah. This type of news, only to read and forget, not worth even to take it serious, let alone start a petition somewhere..

abit off topic here but its sorta in line with the music piracy right? on the other front, the guitar tabs n al are already starting to get affected.. just cos we think its impossibly stupid.. doesnt mean it cant happen. mxtabs for eg is down already because of the new laws n what not..

Only things if this hits singapore ( not only prs but if other companies follow) businesses are gunna lose out.. were too kiasu to pay money to try guitars! Internet petition? i noe im not being productive lah but yes petitions seem to be our only options.. but unless there is a significantly large number.. ( like the whole music world) i dont think companies will take note.

Playing music is expression. u just cant kill tt. Music isnt an industry. the industry is Part of music. U cant make expression illegal

WAT MXTABS!!! wtf... i've always been using that website.. man this law sucks man.. firstly.. mxtabs are written by pple like US who listen by our own years and record them down. it's not an official score sheet.. wat's the government's problem man..

hehe, music is indeed expression. I think must start to play more originals instead of trying to play anymore covers or trying to sound like those famous dudes/infamous dudes what so ever...

yea but the thing is. this is something they can control easily. as can be seen with mxtabs. its nt really a p2p thingy. it depends on a back end server which is easy to target. how many people actually save thousands of tabs down even though they are a fraction of the size of mp3s? on the up-side, we're all going to be better musicians soon.
