1. send cd + press kit to EVERY media (tv, radio, newspaper, mag, website)
2. public performance
3. approach cd retail shop
4. approach record company

* secretly buy all your cds from the shop and keep requesting for your songs on the radio

get a myspace.com / purevolume.com account. and gig gig gig gig and advertise advertise advertise. and start saving cash + writing new stuff.

Actually, if you want a major label distro deal, the 4th point should be the 1st thing you should do. Send a media kit and a CD-R to the record companies.

Good luck!

Have you followed up with them yet?

Btw, instrumental albums are even more niche than local rock albums. It could be deemed more unmarketable than the rest. What's your own marketing and promotion plan?

Local radio isn't exactly supportive of home-grown music unless you've got friends in the industry, or you're on a major record label. Start making friends ;)

Not exactly.

The reason why local radios play less of home-grown music is because the quality of the the songs is not even up to standard to start with.

I've heard of local records that's technically awesome and pretty much a radio-friendly song, but when it was sent to the local media, it gets turn down due to the standard of recording.
