Warehouse year end sale! Dont miss it!!!

well, it's true that they set the price, but it's also true that people who wanna buy things WILL pay for the $10 because the final savings of buying their gears at the sale will be alot more than the $10.

i mean there used to be pple who paid $100 for the membership to be the first few in the queue last time.

We can't deny that the entrance fee really did reduce alot of unneccesary crowd and waiting time.

But what if we pay to get in and find that what we want is not available or that the deal is not fantastic?

haha ya thats why! maybe we can ask here. lol.
anw, do you all sell Ibanez GRG170DX or Ibanez GRG270 at the sale? thanks!

best way is to do your homework just b4 the sale and the $10 charge lor... go down one day to check the stock and prices first. if it's for a few hundred dollars savings, it's worth it... bo bian ba...

LATEST UPDATES! THERE WILL BE A 'FREE ACCESS' AREA WHERE SOME CLEARANCE GEARS ARE SITUATED- THE LOADING BAY too!
Good for those who doesn't wanna pay for the Showroom Entrance!

Frankly musicinvitation, I don't find sweelee having much sincerity in organizing this sale.

I was thinking of getting a Roland piano. Called up Sims drive a few times to check whether this piano is for sale on that day.

The only answer they have is "you have to come on that day to know".

Find this pretty ridiculous. Does it mean I have to go there on sat, pay the $10 fees and enter only to discover that the model I want is not for sale?

Don't see any rationale why I can't know what item is on sale that day, don't you think so? Is there any possibiltiy that I can call up someone to find out whether the item I need is on sale that day?

(Forgive me if I sound harsh, but the way things are done is so mind boggling for me...)

swee lee is charging entrance fee of $10, for what sort of services rendered if nothing was purchased from the store? if 10,000 customers who are going there to browse and didn't buy anything, the company pockets $10,000? and i'm pretty sure the money earned doesnt go back to loyal customers.

are they trying to rip off kids? if swee lee's PR rep doesn't address the issue of the entrance fee, i might just bring this up to CASE.

I always felt like emailing Fender, Ibanez etc, telling them that I always wanted to buy their guitars, and would do so if I happen to travel to America. But the local distributor marks up prices by over 100%, so I had to get Craftsman etc instead because as a student I can't afford to pay 700 SGD for a 200USD guitar. But I doubt 1 email would make a diff. :\

Do bring it up to CASE please. If you need another voice, I'm just a PM away.

haiz.. again.. the $10 entrance fee is just ridiculous la IMO.. this is not a concert or some performance event or something.. which is much worth the fee, but this is a SALE for softies sake... this is the first time ive seen a SALES event with an entrance fee... hmmm..

Bro its $100,000... Anyway i have to agree with u... If 1,000 customers enter but bought nothing, they still pockets $10k. HELL! swee lee is like an art museum then... But hey, look on the bright side. MAYBE, the crowd won't be that packed... i hope most guitars are on 50%... i will be most upset if the strings are at half price... haha

Thanks for your feedback bro. No offence taken. :)
The shop is still open for business on usual days and they usually would be able to tell you if the items are available on the day you call but not the Sale date itself as Sometimes when the items get sold off (if it's down to the last pc or so), it may lead a misunderstanding situation between the customer and company. Thus, usually a sales person wouldn't wanna commit such a statement.

Usually there are many allocation and replenishing of items that are going on a few days before the sale. Thus, sometimes if they sounded abit less helpful, let me apologise on their behalf.

We are trying to make every customer's trip to our showroom worthwhile on the event date and prior to the actual date, we regret any inconvenience to those customers who had some problem in reaching us for info.

Lastly, we do have Roland Digital Piano for Sale. But if you are looking for RD700GX & RD300GX, high chance it's already been sold out. Hope that info helps..

Why not simply inform the caller of what is available at that point in time, and also tell us if the specific item we're enquiring about will be for sale IF it's available on that day? Since it's a sale, I would think most of us will understand if we get there on that day to find that what we've enquired about previously has been sold (in fact, I'd venture a guess that most of us would prefer being in that situation, as compared to not knowing what's available, and going there blindly).

I think at least giving us a little bit of info will give you a lot less PR problems than implying to everyone "We're going to charge you $10 just for entering a sale in which we won't tell you what we're selling". If you're going to charge $10 for entry, then I think we at least deserve enough info for us to decide whether spending our $10 is really "worthwhile".

If other companies can come up with even a year-end sales catalogue, without charging the $10, I don't see why you guys can't let us know if the one item we're enquiring about is available.

Furthermore, if you guys replenish your stocks a few days before the sales, I don't see how this will affect you negatively in any way. If anything, it just means you have more items to sell, and more people will be happy getting the items that they want :).

I understand your policy of not addressing such issues on your forum. However, I feel this "stunt" has left a bad mark on SL for many of us, so I do hope your PR team handles this well.

Don't mistake me. I'm not against the $10 entry fee. I think it's good in a sense that it does help with crowd control. Just that I think all the feedback that your customers are providing here hasn't, and isn't being handled well. Instead of apologizing on behalf of your staff, why not prevent the misunderstandings in the first place? :)

I think you might very well have succeeded in quelling the misunderstandings of customers being unhappy when the last piece is sold out, but do consider that you might also have created many new misunderstandings.

Thank you.

Hi musicinvitation, thanks for your reply. Things isn't exactly as you described. I called up today (friday, one day before the sales day), and the sales person ( a malay guy) answered and said that he doesn't know which items are on sale and "you have to come down to know". (Frankly speaking, I do find your staff less than helpful, so apology accepted :) )

Is there any number I can call on Saturday to confirm whether the item I want is available, before I go down to sims drive? Or if I am at the entrance of sims drive, can I check with someone there about the item availability before I go in?

Though I am not terribly excited with the $10 entrance fees, I am still willing to pay, if proper information is given to me, and I go in knowing what to expect. The worse thing I can imagine is (as I mentioned before), I go in not knowing what is for sale, pay $10, then found that what I want is not for sale.....

I agree wholely with what FireFlight13 says.

This is the first time I come into contact with swee lee as I was contemplating a roland piano. But frankly speaking, I have not had a great general impression of swee lee thus far. It also made me think, if the sales team is already like this, what will happen to the service team after I bought my item? At one point, I thought of a few options:
1. forget about getting a roland and just get a yamaha piano. (I also had a fleeting thought of emailing roland Asia pacific and tell him that I initially wanted to buy one, but decided otherwise)
2. go to Kuala lumpur to buy one from roland Asia Pacific at Dataran Prima.

If you are wondering what exactly gave me this experience, they are:
1. compared to yamaha, many of the items you are distributing are not available for testing. And when I ask you staff, they will say, "we do have the stock in warehouse, but if you want it, we can get it from the warehouse. But you must then buy it whether you like it or not after testing". In comparison, I can always go down to yamaha showroom and test most of their products.
2. poor experience with the sales person at your store, especially not being helpful and to a certain extend "rude" in reply.
3. different price quoted when you call and when you are there in person.
4. not even having a proper catalogue for sales (like in yamaha and city music's case)
5. this sales thingie

Don't take my message wrongly - I am not trying to find fault with swee lee, but these are the actual emotions I have and I do hope you can take them positively and make things better. And I believe that for the few of us that do voice out, there are many others who just decided to leave it alone and leave with tarnished brand image of "swee lee".
